In a highly entertaining day 3, Notts defied all expectations by batting all day to close on 444 for eight, a lead of 395; an overnight declaration seems likely with Warwickshire needing four an over on an excellent batting surface.

Nostradamus Newell
It was foreseen before the game started by the D of C and so it proved, Surrey spinners wreak havoc and win the game on the fourth day at the Oval.
The pitch was made with this desired effect and perhaps the result was only hastened by Notts' disappointment after Warwickshire ran away with the prize yesterday. Batting last, Notts were always up against it and when they batted in the first innings their only hope was to pass the Surrey score, but of course they failed and from then on were doomed to defeat, the loss of Hales who had been replaced by Edwards on Day 3 only compounded Notts' dilemma.
Adam Voges played perhaps his last ever Notts innings today - we really do need an overseas player that can make a serious impact such as a high octane pace bowler with NOS capability - Adam would be a good player to have if he was English qualified but alas he isn't.
Notts Second Innings 151
Neil Edwards 31
Extras 24
Ben Phillips 20
Gareth Batty 4/30
Murali Kartik 2/21
He Who Shall Not Be Named 2/24
With the fat lady singing a week early, Bears are Champs whilst Lancs and Pears are the chumps. Lancashire in fact do a "Notts", championship winners one season following up with relegation the next.

Warwickshire brushed aside a hapless Pears to win with a max pointer in just over 2 and a half days.
1/ Warwickshire had some luck over the summer with the weather.
2/Warwickshire had the best available squad in the division.
3/Warwickshire used the loan market to good effect.
4/ Warwickshire played consistently the best cricket all summer.
6/ Warwickshire deserved to win the LV=, probably!

Notts in the hunt?
Lumb junior must be imminent as Michael was not in the starting eleven, the eleven did include Sam Wood and Steven Mullaney however but no Neil Edwards, as yet.
