Pravda:

We're saddened to hear of the passing of Alan Armitage, who was the oldest surviving Notts cricketer, at the age of 95. Born in Nottingham, Alan made seven First-Class appearances for his county, scoring one century. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and loved ones.

In the Trent Bridge Player Profile Archive (amended):

Alan Kenneth Armitage was the oldest surviving Notts cricketer. He was born in Nottingham on 25 January 1930. A right-hand bat and occasional wicket-keeper who attended Nottingham High School, he first appeared for Notts Seconds in June 1950. He made his First-Class debut for Notts in August 1950 v Warwickshire, at the Courtaulds Ground in Coventry. Batting at No 5 he made two and 20 in a match Notts won by 178 runs. He remained in the Eleven for the following match at Dean Park, Bournemouth.

Armitage played a further three First-Class games for Notts in 1951. He made a Notts best 43no versus Somerset at Trent Bridge and played his final game versus Yorkshire at Trent Bridge in July 1951. In this match he was the second batsman dismissed within a hat-trick taken by Fred Trueman in Notts first innings, Reg Simpson and Peter Harvey being the other two victims.

He studied at Wadham College at Oxford University playing in two First-Class matches for the Dark Blues in 1951, making 115 and 57 not out against the Free Foresters.

Dr Alan Armitage was living in Knaresborough in North Yorkshire in 2020.

The baton of oldest surviving Notts player now passes to Ken Poole.
