Loughborough UCCE Friendly at Trent Bridge Draw

Day 3

Object of the exercise achieved - Time in the middle. Notts utilised eight bowlers to bowl 82 overs at the students who closed on 325/5 Sheridon Gumbs 121

scorecard

Ben Dawkins is currently on a Kent rookie contract.

Rehaan Mahamood Edavalath is a Pear and played against Notts in September at New Road.

Sheridon Sohan Emmanuel Gumbs, I think played against Notts in the One Day Cup a few years back for Surrey and then he had a stint with Leicestershire 2s last year.

Aadi Sharma is on Northamptonshire's books and has played in the ODC and Championship.

Day 2

A tad too blustery to take the covers off with any confidence of safety today. Play abandoned for the day before it had even started.

Day 1

Pravda's Day 1's highlights would be filled with fluent centuries from the local lads, LJ and LPW, with notes of fifties from Clarke and Haynes.

Notts had 76 overs in the middle against the students' menace, before poor light halted play at 5:15. Freddie and the two openers might be grateful if Notts got a second dibs later on in the three days, time in the middle being the name of the game; so I can't imagine Olly Stone and Dillon Pennington will be going through the gears much to put a stranglehold on the game in Notts' favour by the end of the day two and enforcing a follow-on.

Anyone going down today should wrap-up warm as the forecast is for temperatures [single digits]more suited to the beginning of February, rather than the beginning of the cricket season. Come-on Notts!

  2. Good to see cricket back, just checked the fixture lists, no mention of the champion county v MCC, what happened to that game?, an excellent, traditional start to the season.

    1. The history of the County Champions match v MCC is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champion_County_match But in short, no attempt has be made to schedule such a fixture since the March 2020 Essex v MCC match was cancelled in Galle owing to the Global Pandemic.

    2. That's a real shame.

  3. And also, the county champions no longer go to Buckingham Palace for a reception with the Duke 🤴 of Edinburgh
Walking 🚶‍♂️ back from the ground today conditions were absolutely horrendous and it was no surprise 😳 that d2 was abandoned in the circumstances it was with it being a pre-season friendly after all

    1. The particular Duke of Edinburgh [Philip the Greek] was succeeded by his youngest son in 2021. Prince Philip was a Lord's Taverner I believe.

  5. Positively tropical 🏝️ down there today - by comparison anyway - Hartley could have been in his shorts 🩳 in all that sunshine ☀️(almost)
Great partnership by the 2 Loughborough lads - Gumbs in particular, fabulous effort
Not reading too much into our bowling today, although think it’s fair to say McKerr hasn’t done himself too many favours
