Nottinghamshire EGM Request - Campaign to Save First Class Cricket

24/08

I believe a meeting is being held today between members' representatives and Club CEO, Lisa Pursehourse requesting that members are allowed a binding vote. Read below...

23/08

BINDING VOTE FOR NCCC MEMBERS ON FUTURE SCHEDULE

What is the problem?

ECB proposals for changes to the schedule (from the High Performance review) including a reduction to just 10 county championship games are to be shared for private discussions amongst the county CEOs on 26 August.

From 9 September, counties are expected by the ECB to do some consultation with members on the final proposals before county chairs vote on 20 September. A scandalously short period of time for any proper consultation!

How is NCCC going to give its members a say?

We don’t know. Consulting members does not equal respecting their wishes!

The club is aware of the strength of feeling amongst the membership. Over 350 members have signed a petition to oppose any reduction in first class county championship cricket. Please sign if you haven’t already.

Only a binding vote by the members ensures our views are respected.

Campaign volunteers are meeting CEO Lisa Pursehouse on 24 August to secure a binding vote for our members. Lancashire CCC has promised its members one.

Insurance policy needed in case NCCC refuse a vote

Please sign the request to call an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to be held AFTER the vote on 20 September. It is too late to do one before as 28 days’ notice is needed.

The EGM will review how well club officials did in informing members, giving them an opportunity to vote on the key issues and how well the club’s vote reflected members’ priorities. There will be three distinct votes to decide:

Do the members have confidence in the club’s handling of this matter?

It ought to focus the decision makers’ minds when casting their vote that they will have to answer to the members very soon afterwards!

TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE 1ST CLASS CRICKET FROM FURTHER EROSION!

  2. One more bit please, is a reduction to 10, rather than 12, or no reduction in County Championship matches per side, though not confirmed, what is thought to be in the High Performance Review ?

  3. If there is too much cricket at the moment as some would have you believe, Middlesex, who Notts yesterday edged out of a RL ODC knock-out match place, because they don't have a fixture in the first round of championship games in September; don't have any cricket for 20 days, TWENTY DAYS in Summer - something isn't right and the direction of travel, if the rumours about Strauss recommendations are true, is taking it in the wrong direction.
