82 NOT OUT
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THOSE INVOLVED IN NOTTS VIEW !
Unsung heroes . Unpaid . An awful lot of work and expense goes into the 4 day cricket reports - home and away !
Yes I second that emotion as my favourite Motown singer would say
ReplyDelete82 NOT OUT
ReplyDeleteA SIMPLE REQUEST !
To those that administer Notts View and various contributors . It’s finally time for everyone to acknowledge that the HUNDRED COMPETITION AND TRENT ROCKETS are here to stay - in one form or another . It’s becoming TEDIOUS and childish to continue to virtually deny its existence . I have NEVER been to 100 Ball match and probably never will although I have seen small amounts of it on live TV . We all know the 100 Ball has ruined the cricket season . But everyone has to make the best of a bad job and salvage what we can . It had done a lot of harm but the big injection of cash to many Counties has been / will be a life saver . We can’t turn the clock back - what’s happened has happened .
The 100 has two seasons left and then it will be abolished............... and replaced with a T20 tournament! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat will expunge one major criticism , the 16.4 nature, but leaves the other biggie, the made up teams that have little support or identity local to the venues, drafts of players that act to diminish the counties that do have that local support and identity. It's the modern world but it ain't better .
DeleteWho can honestly say that they actually care (so much that it would make or ruin their day) that T. Rockets won or lost a game of "cricket "? Happy New Year.
2026 the year they tried to blur the two by sharing the same head coach.
Brilliantly put. The 100 /Trent Rockets are here to stay but will never gain the support of the counties public.
DeleteI know people who go from Time to time but it's just a laugh and a drink and they care little about the score and never mention the game afterwards.
Personally. I'm thinking of walking away from the game after a lifetime of supporting it.
Franchise cricket is soulless

ReplyDeleteQUESTION to 100 BALL FANS
How many go to see 4 day cricket from time to time ? Or a days Test match play or a visit to a 50 over game.
I don’t want to be disparaging but isn’t the 100 Comp all about -
Kids having a run round and having their face painted and a selfie or two ?
Grown ups given the chance to sink as many pints as possible and make as much excitable noise as possible . ?
Action on the pitch is secondary to everything else that is going on ?
How many understand the v basic rules of cricket eg . The LBW rule?
Does it matter who actually WINS the game for the majority of fans attending ?
Do they get tired a sixes being scored on such a regular basis ? Becoming meaningless after a while .
AM I BEING UNKIND TO 100 BALL FANS?
