    1. That'll be the money freed-up by Fletch going burning a hole in Newell's pocket.

  3. I think that this would be a good signing.Anyone who goes out on loan 7 times is obviously very keen to play , and being at Surrey for a number of years will mean a winning mentality.

  4. I think we are short of pace bowing resources.
Hutton. Pennington. Stone. Tongue would be on the injured or England list

Fletch released. Pettman retired. Paterson unlikely to return.

The first i suspect of many signings

    1. I think they're going to persist with James Hayes but an overseas quick must be on the shopping list.

  5. I remember seeing McKerr as a teenager when playing on loan for Derbyshire against Notts at Trent Bridge. He was a handful and looked a real prospect.
Whether, it is through lack of continued opportunities, he has not kicked on with his career at Surrey, hence all the loans to other counties.
If he comes to Notts , it will be interesting to see if he can gain some consistency under the tutorlidge of Shine.
He has never been short of pace which I suspect is why Notts are interested in his signature.

  7. Must admit, have not really followed Essex big bat thing. Am not keen on points deductions, seems like punishing supporters, who have done nothing wrong.

  8. Anthony has achieved great things at Essex, and his home coming seems to bode well. Funny, in 2017, saw Essex effectively win The County Championship at Edgbaston. Then he was deputy, Chris Silverwood in charge. Their "share prices" went in opposite directions after that. We have seen how reputations of cricket Head Coaches, etc, can change here too.
