Pravda confirms that Olly Stone has been drafted by the Knight Rider franchise (Abu Dhabi) in the International Premier League in the UAE, whilst Tom Moores has been picked up by Gulf Giants. Matches start in December.
No news of those players that have contracts that conclude this year with Notts: King, Schadendorf and Stone, for example.

Nottinghamshire keen to bring Pakistan seamer back amid Derbyshire interest
MELINDA FARRELL: The newly-crowned Division One champions would like Mohammed Abbas to return to Trent Bridge next season after he took 32 wickets this season
Peter Moores has indicated his strong desire to see Mohammed Abbas return to Trent Bridge to be part of Nottinghamshire's County Championship title defence next season.
As reported by The Cricketer, it's understood that Derbyshire has been offered a lucrative six-figure deal - with an additional bonus of £400 for every first-class wicket - to join the Division Two county for the 2025 season.
The 35-year-old seamer has played a key role in Nottinghamshire's successful Championship campaign, taking 32 wickets at 21.46, and finished the season as the county's second-highest wicket-taker behind Brett Hutton.
While Mick Newell, Nottinghamshire's director of cricket, is in charge of player contracts, Moores made his feelings clear after Notts capped off their season with a 10-wicket victory over Warwickshire on day three at Trent Bridge.
"Yes we'd love to keep him here," said Moores. "Listen, when it comes down to the nitty, getting the contract, that's Mick's part of it. But of course, we want to keep him. He's been fantastic for us, the way he's played.
"And a lot about how he's been around the team has probably summed him up. One of his first games we played at Yorkshire it was Joe Clarke's birthday, and Mo had organised the cake to be brought in.
"So at the end of the game, without me knowing, suddenly this cake arrives for Joe, Mo's organised it, and it was one of his early games. So I thought that was a brilliant sign for somebody who realises what it's all about on and off the field. He's been a good support for Hass [Haseeb Hameed] actually, as a senior pro."
Abbas' consistency was on show at Trent Bridge in the final match of the season. He took six wickets and yielded just 51 runs against Warwickshire. At 35, the former Pakistan Test bowler is the most senior member of a young attack; Brett Hutton is 32, while the rest of Nottinghamshire's bowlers are still in their 20s.
"Mo's bowling experience is great because he shares his knowledge really well," added Moores. "What's exciting about the group is that most of the senior players are early 30s. The captain's 28 and a lot of lads around that are mid-20s. So you've got plenty of mileage in them, and they've grown a lot."

If Hales is offered anything that would be appalling
ReplyDeleteHe's got a better offer in 2025 from the New World
DeleteMoney to burn
ReplyDeleteIn Mr Newell's defence, Tom Moores' new terms might now be commensurate with his actual abilities and he is now just part time. We'll never know the details.
DeleteWow. White ball contract. Well done Dad! The guys not county level. Says everything you need to know about Notts ccc at this time.
DeleteIt's a fudge. Nowhere near good enough for CC. Now recognised at long last and will not appear, even as specialist batsman (!). Not good enough for T20 but being moderately better at that saves him. Good non nepotism management would have seen the ridiculous 2025 contract paid off and the door shown with Dane promoted.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, spot on. Fudge being the operative word. He isn't good enough for any form of first class cricket, either as a batsman or a wicket keeper.
DeleteSchadendorf will continue to be marginalised with the signing of the South African keeper.
Odds are, that we will be stuck with both of the Moores's for two more years.Total madness.
A white ball contract allows players to pursue overseas opportunities such as the Pakistan Super League that overlaps with the English season without the need for a No Objection certificate from the ECB. Would expect to see other players within the county game move to white ball contracts to take advantage of these opportunities.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the prestigious /High paid franchise leagues would touch moores. Prob play in the Notts prem league in between white ball commitments with Notts.
ReplyDeleteNot sure he would get in a prem side when he played for wymeswold he didn’t keep wicket
ReplyDeleteGood grief.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture. Is that Abbey Road ? Happy Christmas everyone !
ReplyDeleteYes Rich it's Abbey Road with Mick and Lisa, two of the Fab Four of the top table. Here's to a Merry New Year!
DeleteMr Moore played a couple of games for Notts 2nd Xi last season, v Zimbabwe A (0; 6-1-27-0, 5-3-15-1; 1 ct) and Lancs 2nd XI (3-0-8-0).

Hi
ReplyDeleteGreat news about monty joining us at Derby. Think timing obviously shows a rift. I'm led to believe we are signing another also but let's wait and see.
Timing shows a reason why he thinks his opportunities will be limited. If you're not a Moores' approved signing you've got to fight for your place at Notts and if you are, you get a free pass.
DeleteI really thought Notts would go for a fresh start coach wise. He's a very abrupt individual in my experience.
ReplyDeleteHe has a closed mind to certain players. There are other talented players out of contract this year at TB that will be on the market for a gig elsewhere - Derby would be the easiest move for all of them.
Delete82 NOT OUT
ReplyDeleteDoes Peter Moores have a closed mind when it comes to certain players ? No matter what they do he will not pick them . They get fed up and frustrated - and leave for pastures new .
Then we await the DOC and PM to sign up over the top semi vintage players who always seem to break down . Often even before the season has started or after one game . We have seen it happen so many times over the years . Surprised PM has got a THREE YEAR deal . I would have thought TWO YEARS max !?
I'm disappointed rather than surprised with PM's 3 year deal. Newell must have been feeling the pressure from the other uncertainties in his life, so went for a quick fix to stop the speculation about senior players being unsettled by Moores' staying/not staying. Agents whispering to pet journos probably behind it all and Newell lost his nerve and caved in to Moores demands. A 3 year deal, with a Tr*nt R*ckets August bonus, use of Newell's office three days a week during the off season, the key code to Lisa's office to use the deluxe coffee machine, the keys to the TR bus year round and tickets to all the H*ndred games for young Tom. He's 63 later this year, this will be his last contract(?)
DeleteTake a step back and look at this season folks. Notts haven't won a champo game since May. The T20 competition was the again a flop. The guy is turning his back on Notts this month for that other team. Moores is being rewarded for his failures by his mate. A total disgrace.

Really great for Joe !

Only fear with Mo (Sea)Abbas is at what point he stops being the bowler he still is today ? He looks a lean, fit, no spring chicken 🐔 so you would think he’s still ok another 12 months on as one of your overseas pros. Fergus O’Neill though, can hold the willow and field better than Mo and is only going to get better presumably - then, I think we all want Kyle Verreyne back next season also. We permed 3 into 2 quite easily last season due to the silly 😜 visa situation with Fergus so it’s a bit of a difficult one to sort out. Much better than scraping the barrel though
ReplyDeleteThat is NOT a pun - Liam is one of the reasons why we are Champions and he is one of my favourite 😻 players having watched him all the way through his career first in the Notts Academy in the NPL
ReplyDeleteAgree totally with Champione Champione Ole Ole Ole . I'd also love to see Ishan return at some point too
ReplyDeleteJust dunno 🤷♀️ how he keeps getting these franchise deals ? Thought it was Carly Simon who sung Nobody Does It Better ?
ReplyDeletePleased 😀 for Tom Moores - it’s showed real character, courage and mental resilience to produce a season like this last one from where we was this time last year
Despite the happiness at Notts Chempiinship triumph , I am angry at the way Dane Schadendorf has been treated. A very talented player, who always seemed to play well when given the very rare first team chances, keeper and batting wise; yet another who has been marginalised and then discarded.
ReplyDeleteThat was Rich
DeleteAre we going to try and get kyle back then.hope so
ReplyDeleteChilwell outlaw
Yes, I hope so also Chilwell outlaw, it’s no coincidence that we’ve won 🏆 Div One with 3 good quality overseas lads in the team, and no weak ‘places’ anymore in the red ball outfit
ReplyDeleteYes, I feel Dane S was treated pretty shabbily. He deserved an extended run in the first eleven when Major Tom was struggling and he never 👎 got it. We will never now know whether he was good enough or not, as he simply never got the chance to prove himself. Suspect he became disillusioned last year with us signing Kyle and the writing ✍️ was obvs 🙄 on the wall for him by then, unfortunately so think he can feel pretty short changed during his time at our club and that’s a real shame
I totally agree 👍 Kevin. Without Kyle what keeper do we have on the books now? Joe Clarke can't hack it, so who've we got?
DeleteI’m surprised we are spending our money on Stone and not continuing to invest in King and Schadendorf. Very very short term priorities
DeleteJim G
Yeah agree with my mate Kevin . There seems to be players who aren't given a real opportunity. I can name some Joey Evison Matt Montgomery Dane of course Sam King and Fateh Singh .
DeleteI could never understand why the club thought it necessary to sign an overseas wicketkeeper batsman ,when they already had a perfectly good one in the second eleven.
ReplyDeleteVerraynne scored 500 championship runs in 2025, which is nothing to shout home about.
I reckon Schadendorf batting at 6, could have even surpassed that figure given the opportunity, and would have probably saved the club around £100k in the process. He is also in my opinion equally as good as, if not a better keeper than Verraynne
Let's face it, Peter Moores never wanted to give this lad a chance, in fear of him exposing the obvious weaknesses of Tom.
Shameful treatment really.
I hope Schadendorf finds another county ,and proves to the management at Notts cricket club ,how wrong they were, in not selecting him.

ReplyDeleteSpot on Mark - I very much agree with what you posted. I bet it was impossible for Peter Moores to look Dane S in the eye . .Poor lad was never given a chance to shine - and we all know why !
