A new thread brought about by news of Gloucestershire potentially spending £3.3m (of that H*ndred windfall) on changing facilities that may become redundant if they can engineer a ground move in the near future.

New Lights at Derby and they certainly need them.

I think Gloucestershire msn has one eye on getting a Undread franchise so they need four dressing rooms for those men’s and women’s fixtures. Wonder what Somerset will think, they may want the undread too.

ReplyDeleteWILD RUMOUR !
Any truth in a whisper I heard that Derby ccc .are think of demolishing their existing ground and build a new one close by ?
They presumably have the 100 Ball windfall to use up ?
Money will be spent on developments at the county ground and youth development. The ground needs a shake up I must admit. But the club as no money concerns or owe money.
DeleteYes until now, Derbyshire have run a tight ship. Powercuts apart, the floodlights are one of the worst of the 17 counties with lights. More or better would certainly improve the illumination for those 7PM starts.
DeleteYes. Totally agree. Floodlights will be a priority. The pitch also. Outfield this season just awful. Notts a far bigger club but poorly run? Feel they let the game down with their voting intentions but not alone in that.
DeleteI agree.
DeleteCanterbury Pavilion for the chop too ? Time for me to have another strop ! In happier news, The Sir Julien Cahn Pavilion , West Park, West Bridgford. Formerly known as Loughborough Road, one of 2 grounds, to have staged First Class Cricket in the Borough. Don't think there are any more.
ReplyDeleteSir Julien Cahn Pavilion fully restored, above should say !

DeleteJust a PS. Seen the lovely now lost Pavilion described as "dilapidated". This a phrase too far, it was in remarkably good health for a 137 years old. Better health than I am in. Re the decision, I do not discuss now, as obviously no point. Just on the expression "not fit for purpose", it, it is a meaningless phrase, I think, rather like "future proofing", applied to ECB plans fur county cricket, What is meant by "fit" and what is meant by "purpose". ? Any pavilion actually has several purposes. And the "future" can never be "proofed", if guaranteed is what is meant.
