Welcome to Scotland

The rain on the radar only belatedly appeared at ground level in Edinburgh as Notts Outlaws opened with their new England combo, Lumb and Hales, after being put into bat.

Alex Hales (13) was the first to depart in the sixth over, swiftly followed by Riki Wessels (1).

Richie the Fox struck with his first delivery to remove Michael Lumb (26).

Samit Patel (36) was next to fall, just past the half-way mark.

Wee Jimmy Taylor was next out (34), to the spinner Haq and was soon followed by top scorer Chris Read (59).

Notts Outlaws ended their innings on 219/7.

The Saltires started their innings solidly and because of that they were always ahead of the DL rate, even if they were behind the actual scoring rate.

When the rain arrived, it played into the Scots' sporrans allowing them a winning margin of 18 runs by the DL method - Notts didn't remove either of the openers Josh Davey (44*) and Calum MacLeod (58*).

Netherlands played a similar game to Scotland at Kidderminster, beating Pears by 9 wickets on the DLM.

Gloucestershire won at Lords in a restricted match, Benny Howells today hitting the winning blow for a 5 wicket winning margin over Middlesex.

The rain and DL helped Hampshire to a comfortable chase at the Armitage Shanks  against the Red Dragons - a 48 run margin when the rain ended play.

The West Indies opening game of their tour of these rain soaked isles was abandoned as a draw in early afternoon, following further rain.
