Wow, after the man himself kindly sent me a photo of his passport, I can reveal that neither the G or the C stand for anything.

Fellow Nottsview contributor JAG, posed a question with regards to Derbyshire's Hardus Viljoen yesterday.
A seemingly straight-forward question to answer on first hearing......
What's his name?
Hardus, you'd say..... as media everywhere calls him. When you dig a little deeper you discover that "official statistics" card him as GC. So what are G and C initials for?
A quick Google clarifies my ignorance of Dutch-Afrikaans names. Hardus is a regular, common contraction of Gerhardus. Origins of the name Gerhardus have conflicting sources on the web, either High-Germanic or Nordic but it clearly shares it's roots with Gerard and Gerhard but................
What does the C stand for? I've not found anywhere on the web that can shed light on the C. I've found other articles speculating, as I do here, but not one (yet) that spills the beans on C.
Is it case of it stands for nothing and is just C, as with US President Harry S Truman, more famously.

u get me, innit G
