The issue of concussion in cricket hit the headlines when Victoria batsman Will Pucovski was substituted out of his team's match against New South Wales after being struck on the head by a bouncer.
ReplyDeletePucovski was replaced by Dan Christian as Victoria took advantage of a new ruling being trialled by Cricket Australia, that allows 'concussion substitutes' in the event of a serious head injury. Unlike the traditional 12th man, they're able to take a full part in the remainder of the game.
Former Australia team doctor Peter Brukner - one of the leading campaigners for the introduction of 'concussion substitutes' he thinks they are so important for the safety of players.
