Nottinghamshire 2018 Preparations

A wet out-field at the Notts Sports ground, Lady Bay has scuppered any hopes of play with Northants this week. Play was due to take place on Thursday and Friday.

Notts will travel to Cambridge on Easter Sunday for another friendly against the students. However, the MCCU's own home warm-up this week against Durham was also cancelled because of conditions at the ground, so there must also be a question-mark over the Notts fixture too, taking into consideration the weather forecast  before and a during the scheduled playing days for the match.
.................................................................

Notts pre-season kicks off with a tour to South Africa in 2018, abandoning the beaches of Barbados which has been past years' preparations for an English spring, that served the club well in 2017, at least. (5 - 18 March)
Players' preparation continues, in cooler conditions, with a two day game against Northants at Lady Bay, as Trent Bridge is out of bounds due to continuing building works on the Radcliffe Road stand. (29-30 March)
Then another two dayer at Grace Road follows (5-6 April)
First Class cricket starts for Notts with a game at Fenner's against the Students (1-3 April) and then CC1 at Old Trafford, starting 13 April

  1. Well, are we going to have some big announcement at some stage concerning overseas players? I'm not sure that Nash for Lumb and Coughlin for Hutton should be the only signings if we are to head for a respectable position in Division 1. True it looks likely that Ball and Hales will be spending less time with England, and I firmly believe Billy Root can step up but......... we do need replacements for Pujara and Sodhi IMO.
