Knocking on the door?
I'm told that all rounder Lyndon James is in some cracking form at the moment; could this be injection of further youth that we need to rejuvenate, invigorate and to get back on track our white and red ball seasons or do we pick him at the butt end of the season, when perhaps here's gone of the boil in a cold, rain interrupted, pointless fixture.

FALL OF WICKETS

Is that HBD out there?, yes, seen LJ and looks ok, but then so does Gibson, Evison, Budinger, but it's so hard to tell going down a level, admittedly still a very high standard of cricket and look how prolific Libby was in 2nd team and Notts Premier Leage, it's just so hard to gauge whether someone is good enough to make it as a first team player?
ReplyDeleteLook what happened when Worcestershire took a chance on a youngster a couple of weeks ago (yes they lost). Alex Milton ton on debut but more importantantly he stuck around, he valued his wicket. You never know for sure if anyone is going to make the transition from the SEC to CC1 but if they never get the chance, you'll never find out. You could argue that certain of our established players "aren't making it" at the moment and haven't been "making it" for longer than any chance a youngster would be given to show that they could "make it". So where is the risk? We've got nothing to lose, only something to gain, potentially!
DeleteWhy the panic? Why the call for change? We're still in two competitions, having a fighting chance in the Blast and only two CC1 games ago we were beating reigning champions on their own dirt.
DeleteNo panic, but it's good for the club to have players in the second team stepping up and able to play for the first team. That us why we have a second team, and I'm all for giving youth a chance.
