Obviously a t20 specialist and stats for that competition will never show context - i.e. a rapid 16 off 3 balls might not look great, but can and does win games.
ReplyDeleteJust wonder what the general consensus here is on whether he should come back in 2019. My view is a bit conflicted. I think he is past his best, and I think there are more effective players out there. Having said that, the Notts way with overseas players has been continuity (think Hussey, Hadlee, Stephenson etc). But we were playing specialist batters at number 8 when we won the trophy due to being able to field 3 all rounders in t20 (Samit, Mull, Christian - perhaps a luxury when we could have a more destructive player up the order
DC is already contracted to return in 2019 I believe. Signed a two year deal after we won the competition in 2017.
ReplyDeleteYes, he is already contracted to return. Didn't get best out of him last term, as he often came in when we didn't have the best platform to launch the assault, he was always conscious we had a tail every puma would have been proud of. Also, he does seem to insist on bowling his allocation of overs and seems to go for around 40 when he does this. Can be a problem when you dish out a two year deal, as you're then committed to them returning, whatever else happens.Overall, he has been a good, consistent performer for Notts in t20 and with the white ball side being stronger now(in theory, at least) can sign off showing us the real DC to impact the game but not having to win games single handedly
