Membership Under-valued?

have a read of this too:

Reciprocal Agreement  Bonus or Cold Comfort?

Andrew suggests, "it's sweetening the bitter pill" but for a supporter of Nottinghamshire, the reciprocal agree enabling Notts Members free access to Leicestershire, Essex and Warwickshire home Championship games in 2019 offers little compensation. It's great if you're time rich and able to travel but not much cop if you want to watch Notts on a weekend.

The future?

It won't be many years until it'll be free to get into all championship games without a membership everywhere; just bring a heavy warm coat and Arctic survival gear. Sheffield Shield games downunder are already free and have been for years. So if we're following the Australia model with franchise nonsense then surely this will be next once they've made the counties irrelevant, as it could be argued that they are trying to.

  1. Agree with all the points you make and yes seems like a sop

  2. But Derbyshire won't play ball!!! All Counties will see less 4-day cricket so why don't Notts; Derbyshire & Leicestershire all agree a same price Membership - Notts remain the cheapest for 2019 so perhaps again Notts will benefit by some Leicestershire supporters taking out a Notts Membership - short-sighted position by Leicestershire whose deputy CEO is Justin Tose who moved from Notts last Season. Derbyshire seem hell bent on self-destruction by their isolationist approach - perhaps they see their salvation in the £1.3m per Season from the 100-ball fiasco whilst it lasts. As 'grass roots' supporters we need to continue to beat the drum for more 4-day cricket where true skills are honed - everything else is based on that.

  3. And another snippet from the Club - MEMBERS NOTE!! Members, you see, need to know their place - and especially potentially Executive ones. Another positive publicity move by Notts!!!

    Good afternoon Philip,

Executive Suite membership is not being marketed at present as the facility will be used as ICC offices throughout the Cricket World Cup exclusivity period.

  4. So why is it called 'The Members' Pavillion' and why, despite the new Radcliffe Road extension is there still a need to ulitilise the Pavillion for the Press? It just confirms what those ardant Members and supporters have been voicing for so long now that the Club is just viewed and, more importantly, managed as a 'cash cow' - excuse the language but it seems like 'sod the Members.'

    2. Derbyshire memberships are more expensive than at Notts without the international ticket priority afforded to the Notts membership. The last time Debyshire and Notts had a season-long reciprocal deal, the Derbyshire membership numbers fell; or so I was informed.

    3. Yes, you are correct but for those who, like myself, don't want the T20 element it is better to get a Leicestershire Membership, attend all Notts Championship Matches (apart from when Leicestershire are playing) and any Leicestershire Championship Matches and the Derbyshire Championship Matches as detailed above.

    4. Yes Richard did that last season, as a protest.

  6. Re membership and our concerns over the Hundred. Today Matt Hughes of The Times is reporting have won a decent sized battle v ECB. The 8 "Hundred" teams will not be able to have their own team manager and coaching staff. If this is confirmed it keeps those counties closer to control of the counties. It may herald bigger victories, and if true is a very rate win for the counties over ECB, as at the moment it is confrontation rather than a working reltionship

  7. So this what your Notts Membership gets you - the fastest Barman in the West (or East!) If you can afford the prices.

AWARD WINNING BARTENDER SIGNS UP FOR TRENT BRIDGE RESTAURANT
    FEATURED NEWS | 11th March 2019
Dan Warren, the 28-year-old who recently finished second in a worldwide bartending event, has been appointed Bar Manager for Six; the new restaurant and bar at Trent Bridge.
You can watch his cocktail masterclass above
Dan represented the United Kingdom at the Diageo Reserve World Class bartending championships in Berlin in October, finishing second overall within a field of 56.
It ultimately meant that Dan, who was the fastest bartender on show having produced ten drinks in four-and-a-half minutes, finished second out of a field of 10,000.
“This appointment is in-keeping with our intention to provide opportunities to talented individuals with strong ties to Nottinghamshire,” said the Club’s Commercial Director Michael Temple.
“Dan’s expertise and the renowned flair with which he carries out his role will provide our guests with a real talking point.
“He has started by crafting a list of 18 cocktails on the premise that they are all spirits with a story, featuring local ingredients.”
Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club commissioned the sixth-floor restaurant with panoramic views over Nottingham and West Bridgford as part of a multi-million-pound redevelopment of the media centre in the Radcliffe Road Stand.
The new restaurant, named Six as a nod to the cricketing backdrop and its sixth-floor location, is in the final stages of preparation and is expected to host its first events prior to the end of March.
“This is an exciting project and one where I can focus on raising the profile of the hospitality industry in the Midlands and on putting all my efforts into making Nottingham a premier destination,” said Dan.
“I've spent the best part of the last ten years travelling, working and learning in different countries and gaining experience at some of my favourite bars in the world, including the highly acclaimed American bar at the Savoy and 18o6 in Melbourne.
“Now I’m looking forward to making my mark where I grew up in Nottingham, showing why it’s an incredible city that breeds some of the best bartenders in the UK, and helping to raise the bar for the hospitality industry in general.
“I focus on local produce and sustainable practices, using seasonal British ingredients in my cocktails, and I try to incorporate many of the same methods and techniques you’d expect to see from the world’s best chefs.”

Six, Trent Bridge’s new contemporary British restaurant and bar, is set to open later this month with early access for those who register their interest at trentbridge.co.uk/six.
