James Pattinson Released from Contract

BREAKING BAD NEWS (THAT'S ALREADY BROKEN) #1

So it's taken month before Notts CCC release the news...

I like the way they have to remind the reader who he actually is:

from Trent Bridge website

James Pattinson, the Australian fast bowler, has been released from the remainder of his Nottinghamshire contract at his own request.

The 32-year-old, who has taken 73 First-Class wickets at 21.71 across three spells with the Green and Golds, explained that he came to the decision for a combination of fitness and family reasons.

“After having another child recently, I’m keen to be there and provide support and I think the best place to do that is back in Australia,” said Pattinson.

“Also, my body has really struggled with getting through the county season, so I just really need to give it a break.

“I wish Notts all the very best for the rest of the season and really hope we can take out the second division title.”

Pattinson signed for his third spell with the Green and Golds ahead of the 2022 campaign having previously removed himself from contention for international selection with Australia.

He departs Trent Bridge with Peter Moores’ men positioned at the summit of LV= Insurance County Championship Division Two, having contributed 33 dismissals across eight appearances.

“We’re all really sorry that Jimmy won’t be involved in these last few games,” said the Nottinghamshire Head Coach. “But it’s a decision he’s made that’s right for him, and one we respect completely, so we wish him and his family well.

“Meanwhile, we are confident that, with the depth we have in our bowling unit, we can continue the work that he’s been such a key part of during the season so far.”

  1. I'm not sure the "bowling unit" has anyone of Patto's pace but perhaps it's time Jake Ball stood up a put in a shift or will they give James Hayes a chance to shine...

    Zak Chappell?

Fletch, Hutton, Paterson. No doubt the Holy Trinity of last year will be reunited for the run-in, and perhaps no bad thing, what with dewy 1030hrs starts.

  3. And if you're not bowling in the morning session, and aren't Hutton and Fletch both a bit samy? Patto gave us express pace when skill and guile weren't enough.

  4. More likely Brett Hutton who is in fine form and has been unlucky not to play more games this season.

    1. All the exhibition games they hadn't been taking part in... It must be like starting at the beginning of the season all over again - rusty!

  6. So then we let a 20 yo dictate whether he plays for us(Evison not featuring in the RLODC) and now another player under contract is let go with only 2 months of his deal left. I reckon there was better management running Alf Roberts corner shop in Coronation Street.
Another average/poor signing by Peter Moores. Was never ever going to stand up to the rigours of a county season but hopefully we have done enough to get over the line already.
Evison & Budinger have departed (when will they dare announce more bad news) and now this. What an absolute shambles the club is but fear not the Trent Rockets are progressing nicely and the ground is 75% full so everything thing in the garden is rosy to the top table hierarchy.
I don’t think I’d let Peter Moores and Mick Newell play each other at the child’s board game Operation in case they electrocuted themselves. Message to both of you ;- You’re taking the Notts members for mugs

  7. Suspect there’s more holes in that story than a pair of Mick Newell’s Y-fronts ?
Body needs a rest? You’ve just had a month off Jimmy
Surely it’s not taken all this time to release that Alice in Wonderland ?
Meanwhile back on planet earth, a less than auspices debut by a certain Sol Budinger for Birmingham Phoenix, holing out first ball in the outfield for a golden duck in true Lord Budinger classic style. You really cannot go from Notts 2s to franchise cricket at Lords cricket ground Sol, without the occasion understandably getting to you

    1. Strangely Pravda have not mentioned either that Sol is packing his bags for Gracie Road, nor that Sol got drafted. It's like he never existed. The Pattinson story is just that, a story but the result is the same but from where and when Patto made his decision which was only released today, is open to conjecture. If Newell was telling folk a week ago...
