  1. So, it looks like, future and/or retrospective points deductions notwithstanding, that 22pts from NCCC's last two matches will seal top spot in the division, while 10 pts will secure a top-two finish. Just a shame there's no confirmation yet (not that I've heard anyway) on the promotion/relegation arrangements, although the press were reporting a two up/two down arrangement for this season a couple of weeks ago.

  2. Somebody at the Eng. v Sri. Lanka game last Saturday told me it has been confirmed 2 will go up. Sooner we’re out of Div.2 the better and then, presumably, we start preparing better cricket pitches that do not regularly see 15-20 wickets go down on day one. The other Counties do not seem to be prepping these sort of pitches so hopefully they are just a means to an end to get us up. I don’t think we would risk it against decent opposition, losing the toss and being shot out before lunch then game over but its a tactic that has suited the Notts fast/medium bowlers(obviously I don’t mean Patto or Jake Ball not that he has featured) against some distinctly average batting line ups like Leicestershire , Worcestershire and Sussex.
Well done to Dane Schadendorf, apparently with his century at Lady Bay this last week, he has now passed 1,000 runs in SEC cricket, so its good to see he has managed to restore some confidence after the ludicrous decision to promote him up the order in the RLODC games. This seemed almost setting him up to fail.

  3. Pretty dire for Notts today, but at least Middlesex getting some serious resistance from Leicestershire. We rather need them, Foxes, to pull off a shock win.

  4. 2 pretty woeful batting performances vs worcs. It can happen I suppose. I guess Fletcher for the tired Patterson will be the only change we can make for Durham. Would be a real shame for Notts to fall at the final hurdle though.

  5. We are close, but as posting above, nothing guaranteed . Win and we are up, draw might well do it. Glamorgan have to win and us lose for them to catch us. Middlesex that bit closer to us. But I think in practice they would have to win and Notts not win to thwart us. Not quite sure on the maths

In the spirit of "we'll concentrate on what we can do" football-ese, I think the crude figures are now looking like Notts needing 16 to secure top spot in the division, while 7 will ensure a top two finish. Of course, this ultimately depends on any points deductions, either retrospective or incurred in the final round of matches.

    2. No Duckett, and a jaded Paterson. We hope that Notts will see sense and produce a featherbed. What price Clarke and Moores both getting tons?
