  1. This not really fair, so difficult to not break the rules and post the "f" word to this !

    1. Alex peaked in 2017. If he was to reflect on his past decisions, perhaps the point where he felt the need to concentrate on white ball and then displeased Capt Morgan for non-cricketting behaviour, started his protracted decline. He might have grown-up now, but he's well below the highs of 2017 in his performances. He might be traveling the world circuit, but most of the tournaments appear to be lucrative but tier 2 stuff of late.

Question for the stats men .
When did Alex last score a century for Notts in any format ?

    2. Reading the picture above, 101* in 2021 against Lancs in T20 (Alex's highest score for Notts in that format) https://nottsview.blogspot.com/2021/06/lancashire-lightning-vitality-t20-blast_26.html

  3. A great talent but in many ways a wasted talent and symptomatic of so much of what is wrong with modern cricket. But those championship big tons were some of the best innings I've ever seen and never has one man dominated a big cup final like he did at Lords in 2017. Plenty of great memories.

  4. More of a Notts legend than Stuart Broad in my eyes. Broad is an England legend only.

  5. Agree re Broad, naming an end after him seemed wrong to me. Clive Rice End, yes, the man who started all of our success after a 52 year gap. That period of success seems well and truly over, with the "powers" seemingly not even interested.

    Thanks for the reply MAG
2021 was the last time Alex scored a century for Notts - I actually thought it was before that .
It’s obvious he is on a rapid downward path these days but he has produced very many fine knocks for us over the years . There was always a buzz in the ground when Alex came to the wicket . You just never knew!

  8. I recall days when Notts a popular club with other counties. And the people of Nottinghamshire were interested. Now welbeck cannot give all their free tickets away when they host games. Sad times

    1. Difficult to drum-up interest mid-week for a tier 2 competition in a field at the back of beyond, but Welbeck do wonderful cakes nevertheless. The venue would be unable to cope with proper interest, so it's perhaps best it keeps its niche status. It's a friendly enough ground and beats Grantham as an alternative hands down. Chin up, The General is on the march in 2025 and were going to win that cup.

    2. Notts popular with other counties, when we were a pushover! No fear, under MOORES and Newell we will be back there soon.
