West Indian Cavaliers missed the chance to close the gap on Clifton when they suffered the worst of a draw against their bogey opposition the Nottinghamshire Academy. The county side batted first at Lady Bay and closed on 258 for 7 with Scott Elstone top-scoring with 95 with Olly Swann getting 53 and Sam Kelsall 31. Saqlain Mushtaq and Usman Afzaal took the bowling honours with 3-68 and 3-75 respectively. But Sam Wood also had a good day with the ball taking 4-50 in the Cavs reply of 223 for 6; Dominic Williamson top scored for the Cavs with an unbeaten 64, with support from Aqib Afzaal with 38. This result assures the Academy of third place in the league, a creditable position in only their second year in the competition.Nottinghamshire Cricket Board - NCCC Academy XI vs West Indian Cavaliers CC - 1st XI
