Rich Words for Members

08/06

I hope you are well, and you’ve enjoyed the opening half of Notts and The Blaze’s Vitality Blast campaigns.

It was great to welcome a near 12,000-strong crowd through our gates for our T20 season-opener against Yorkshire – and while one result may not have gone in our favour on that occasion, both of our teams are now showing strong form as they bid for knockout stage qualification.

I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing Craig Cumming, Peter Moores and the teams all the best when the Blast returns, and I look forward to the return of County Championship cricket this weekend.

There is much to update you on as we prepare for red-ball cricket’s return, and the start of our international summer.

2027 Membership

Two weeks ago, we outlined plans to expand our membership offering for 2027, introducing more choice and a wider range of benefits as we prepare for a first full summer in our redeveloped Pavilion, and the return of the Men’s Ashes.

Those proposed plans can be found here…

I’d like to thank you for the considered, thoughtful feedback we have received since the proposals were first announced.

It was heartening to hear that you supported our retention of a classic membership offering, which continues to include access to all scheduled regular-season domestic cricket and will remain one of the least expensive memberships in the game.

We also received significant support for our additional offerings, and some valuable suggestions.

We now wish to take a little more time to digest your feedback in full before publishing our confirmed 2027 membership packages, which will include some tweaks based on your suggestions.

While this means that 2027 memberships will now not be placed on sale on Tuesday 9 June, they will still be available in the coming weeks to allow you time to fully consider the range of options available before priority windows for 2027 international tickets open in August.

The Blaze

As you may have seen, James Cutt will be leaving his role as The Blaze’s Director of Cricket in the coming months, as he takes up a new role as County Pathways Lead for England Women.

James has been at the heart of the team’s successes ever since making the move to Trent Bridge – their success on the field, and track record in producing and attracting talent, is testament to his work.

While we are sad to see him go, we wish him all the best as he takes up an exciting opportunity with the national team.

The process of recruiting his successor is now underway, and we will keep you informed once that process has drawn to a close.

Trent Sports District

You may have seen news coverage in the past few weeks on the Trent Sports District, which aims to use venues such as ours as the focus for regeneration across the area.

Nottingham is world-renowned not just for its sporting heritage, but for the way in which our sports sit side-by-side along the River Trent. It’s a unique strength of ours, and one we should definitely look to harness.

Alongside our fellow venues, the East Midlands Combined County Authority, and the Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, I’m looking forward to seeing how our own continued development can play a part in unlocking the potential of our region.

We expect a delivery plan to be completed within a year, and I’ll keep you informed on any updates.

Trent Bridge Community Trust Impact Report

I'm delighted to share with you our 2025 Community Trust Impact Report, which highlights a year of significant growth and community engagement across Nottinghamshire.

The report features all Social Impact and Social Value data, which is an area our Community team are leading the game on – and the results of which are something we can all be very proud of.

We can now evidence the impact we have on the lives of the people we engage through all our programmes, with a key outcome being that every pound spent makes £12 of impact.

Key achievements included continued growth in women’s and girls’ cricket, investment in coaching, facilities and volunteer development, and the expansion of community projects supporting young people, mental wellbeing, healthy lifestyles and those living with dementia.

Strategy Update

Work on our club strategy is nearing its conclusion.

After a great deal of collaboration across the club – and feedback from you in our listening events, forums and surveys – I feel we’ve found a vision, mission and set of values which will help to guide us through the next decade.

The strategy will be published later this summer, and I look forward to sharing the finished document with you.

I’ve hugely enjoyed my first six months at the club, but I’ve heard from so many staff, members and supporters that nothing compares to the buzz of a Trent Bridge Test match.

England’s victory over New Zealand in the first Test has only whetted the appetite for our fixture in a few weeks’ time, and I can’t wait to witness the first ball in front of a sold-out crowd on 25 June.

Whether you’re joining us for the Test, IT20 or the return of county cricket – or following from afar – I thank you for your continued support.

12/05

I hope you have enjoyed the opening weeks of the summer, as both Nottinghamshire and The Blaze have made such a strong start to their seasons.

It has been great to see you supporting our men and women in such large numbers at Trent Bridge – attendances at our County Championship games have been higher than those in recent years, while we were delighted to welcome almost 4,000 people to our food festival on Bank Holiday Monday, held in conjunction with The Blaze’s fixture against Surrey.

I’ve also been struck by the support you have offered on your travels – from The Blaze’s trip to Durham, to Nottinghamshire’s fixture in Somerset.

There is much to update you on as we prepare for the return of T20 and Test cricket.

Thank you to those of you who attended our first members forum of the season during the Surrey game.

It was heartening to see so many of you join us during the lunch interval, and to discuss such a wide range of topics. Your passion for the club and our sport was once again very clear.

Club strategy

At the forum, I gave a brief update on progress with our revised club strategy, which has been developed with input from a range of stakeholders – including the views you have shared in surveys, forums and our listening events.

We are now bringing those views together to help form the strategy for how our club should progress, both on and off the field, in the long term.

We hope to be able to share the strategy with you later this summer.

Pavilion

If you’ve visited Trent Bridge recently, you’ll no doubt have noticed the progress with our Pavilion development. As the scaffolding has begun to come down, the design of the frontage and dressing rooms is becoming clearer – and I’m sure you’ll agree that it looks superb.

Recently, we announced that members will be invited to return to the Pavilion terracing for this summer’s internationals, with new, padded seats being installed in time for the Test.

Players and coaches will continue to use the dressing room facilities in the Radcliffe Road Stand for this summer’s internationals, as work continues on the Pavilion interiors.

While we had hoped to move players back to the Pavilion for the international summer, it is important that we take the time to ensure the building is completely ready, and stands the test of time for generations to come.

We’ll continue to update you on progress across the summer, and we look forward to welcoming you back into the building.

New facilities

In the last few weeks, we have opened the Gold Bar – a comprehensive refurbishment of the old squash bar in the ticket office complex, designed to celebrate our seven County Championship titles and other trophy wins.

The bar will have many different uses – functioning as a hospitality space for major matches, a staff breakout area on non-matchdays, and hosting other events across the course of the year.

With modern facilities but a traditional look and feel, the bar in many ways encapsulates the approach we’re taking with our Pavilion interiors – allowing us to celebrate our rich history while looking to the future.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

We’re delighted to have been recognised by the ECB as a leading organisation for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

We were commended for our comprehensive review of our current EDI activities, our data-led approach to determining future priorities, and our careful consideration of short-term actions and long-term strategy alike.

Our EDI working group have put a great deal of work into ensuring we are a venue which truly welcomes everyone, with tangible achievements and a clear route forwards over the next few years.

Security

We are aware of the recent change in the UK national threat level to Severe.

As a major venue which hosts high-profile matches, we are always conscious of our responsibility to protect the safety of all who visit us, and we remain vigilant against any suspicious behaviour.

While you may not immediately notice any changes to your routines on matchdays, rest assured that we continue to take safety and security extremely seriously.

Thank you for your continued support. Whatever your preferred format of the game, I hope we’re able to welcome you back to Trent Bridge in the coming days and weeks.

  1. Wow 😮- this is a new 🆕 and pleasant initiative from our new CEO - engagement with members ? Whatever next - what’s happened to losing your rag with loyal supporters when they attempt to argue their viewpoint !!!!
Really enjoyed listening to Andy Afford at last nights Notts Cricket 🏏 Society - certainly a bit of a character but in a good way and very engaging company, with a good sense of humour. Also it was a brilliant presentation by Michael Temple aka “Temps” on the Pavillion overview and club strategy development wise going forward

If the Club had a chaplain, the CEO would have learned that Christ fasted for forty days and forty nights and that fasting is a Christian tradition during Lent.

The Jewish philanthropist, Sir Julian Cahn, was a major benefactor, particularly to Notts.
    Jewish people now feel unwelcome.

    1. Very apt mentioning Julian Cahn, now that the club have leased his ground at West Park on Loughborough Road, but can we tread carefully along this tightrope of topic please.
