Brewer's Legacy

Notts CCC announced their operating surplus, to the end of September 2011; a record £542,210.

The club cited reasons for this figure being due to; "strong ticket sales for international matches coupled with a significant increase in Friends Life t20 attendances and a rise in membership numbers contributed to the financial results."

Does a cricket club need to make huge profits; Notts were the most profitable County Club in 2010 with £189,370?

Reinvest in amenities for sure and strengthen the squad perhaps but what is the surplus for? The shareholders are effectively the membership, perhaps we should demand cheaper cake prices in the pavilion - I bet the price of ale is regulated by the ECB so no luck with that!
