Games move along despite rain interruptions

The start was delayed at Durham Emirates International Cricket Ground by light rain.

When the teams were announced, Steven Mullaney's name was surprisingly absent. An on-field interview with Read, by local radio, enlightened us that the choice was between Franks and Mullaney with Andy Carter already penned on to the team sheet. Captains both agreed that the pitch should do something. A good toss to have won - Read 0% so far this season.

Durham won the toss, Notts bat.

Neil Edwards survived difficult batting conditions until the eighth over, out LBW to Thorp for 7

A familiar state of play for Notts, let's hope the General can withstand the spinners (his Achilles Heal) at both ends. Durham have used 7 bowlers for the 52 overs used so far.

Elsewhere, at Birmingham, Somerset were all out for 147, Vernon Philander top scorer with 38.
