Morning wickets and a few later

Made 52

Battling up mountains

On the third day at Taunton and the second day at Edgbaston, both Notts and Warwickshire are battling in their first innings.

Notts lost Adam Voges without further addition this morning, whilst Bears lost nightwatchman Chris Wright.

Both counties are currently 4 down with two mountains to climb to get any batting bonus point.

On the good side, the sun is shining.

At Chester le Street, Durham too have taken another wicket. Surrey need 100 more runs to make the hosts bat again but only have 4 wickets left. A Durham win ought to gee-up Pears at  Edgbaston to push for a win too.

There appears to be a problem with Alfonso Thomas at Taunton, 3/25 - replaced mid-over after a no ball, Notts 80/4

Mountains Steepen

It took his second ball in county cricket before Abdur Rehman struck - James Taylor LBW, 120/5 bringing Paul Franks back into first team action - spin isn't his cup of tea!

At Birmingham, Chris Russell has reduced Bears to 86/7 with 4 wickets for him on his championship debut.

Surrey 114/8, still needing 67 to make Durham bat again at Durham International.

60 overs have been bowled at Australia A and Samit Patel has yet to get a bowl - 181/2, Ed Cowan out for 99.

Falling off a cliff

4/31

Chris Read reached 52 before being out to become Gemaal Hussain's 99th first class victim but by the end of the same over Ben Phillips had become the 100th Graeme Swann failed to stick around becoming Hussain's 101st fall-guy, 148/8 at lunch.

One optimistic note, if Gemaal Hussain can get 3 wickets on this pitch, Andre Adams should be looking forward to bowling later..

Bears latest score 127/9, an English Boyd Rankin now batting

At lunch Warwickshire all out 132, Pears have a lead of 113.

Surrey 143 all out, Durham won by an innings and 37 runs.

Notts pick themselves up off the floor.

After lunch

Notts' tail wagged with the effectiveness of that of a Manx cat's tail, Notts all out 156

Notts hit back straight away having Marcus Trescothick caught by Andre Adams off Phillips for 0.
Somerset 11/0

Bears struck twice in 6 balls leaving Pears 17/2.

Simon Kerrigan has so far nabbed 4 Aussie wickets, 239/8.

At tea

Somerset 78/3 - Andre Adams 2 wickets/ Wayne Noon has been on the field as sub.

Pears 91/4 (205 lead)

Aussie A 277 Simon Kerrigan 6/59 Lions 33/1

At Stumps

Somerset forged a lead of 31 runs with 4 wickets left. Paul Franks, Mr Notts, made a successful return with 2/40. James Hildreth is Notts' dangerman with 63 not out -

Bears skittled Pears at Edgbaston, 145 all out Jeetan Patel 4/42.
Needing 250 Bears closed 79/0 heading towards victory again.

Bring on Wessels the bowler!

After reading the cricinfo report from Taunton, Notts did well to take 6 wickets without Adams (ham-string)  or Gurney ("leg") for much of the innings so far.

Good news, Darren the Aussie Pattinson bowled 6 completed overs at Grace Road a couple of days ago..
