Nottinghamshire have signed Huddersfield-born Ajmal Shahzad from Yorkshire on a 3 year deal. Shahzad is being viewed as a direct replacement for Darren Pattinson, hopefully on the field of play rather than the physio's table - if he's half as good as the most recent Huddersfield Outlaw, then this represents a good deal.

Nottinghamshire and England bowler Stuart Broad has backed new recruit Ajmal Shahzad to shine at Trent Bridge.

Shahzad has signed a three-year deal at Trent Bridge having already enjoyed a fruitful first class wicket that has yielded 155 wickets.

"I think he is a great signing," said Broad.

"I can see him charging in and taking a lot of wickets and those win you championships.

"He's a heart and soul type of player and he puts everything into every ball he bowls.

"I'm sure he will do well at Trent Bridge because Mick has a great knack of getting the best out of players."
