Englishmen Abroad grit it out

Day 5 England thanks to Matt Prior (110*) batted the day out losing only 5 of their 6 remaining wickets. Some dogged dot ball batting from Stuart Broad and Joe Root helped eat up the overs and the time - Broad made 6 from 77 balls in 137 minutes.

With all the professionalism supposedly surrounding the England team, why again did they enter a series under-cooked - arrogance, complacency, laziness, you choose but they certainly under-estimated their opposition and perhaps sold a few more tickets for this summer against the same foe at home in the process.

Day 4 NZ 241/6 England 90/4

Day 3 England all out for 204, NZ 35/3

Day 2 saw centurion Peter Fulton get bogged down by more spirited bowling and Steve Finn finish with 6/125 - NZ 443 all out, England 50/2

Day 1 of the third test, put in NZ, 250/1

Sandra

Day 5

Reports are that the morning in Wellington arose wet and wet it stayed - MATCH DRAWN

Day 4

Sandra took away 2 sessions of the fourth day leaving NZ 162/2, with her rain.

Day 3

With Cyclone Sandra expected to wipe-out much of day 5, at least, breaking a drought for Wellington, England enforced a follow-on after some controlled bowling from Stuart Broad, 6/51 dismissed NZ for 254 in their first innings. With James Anderson restricted by a strapped ankle putting the England attack one man down, the hosts plodded to 77/1, second time around.

England lost the toss in the second test in Wellington but made New Zealand pay, closing day 1 267/2, thanks in main to a 210 2nd wicket stand between Nick Compton(100) and Jon Trott (121*). A much improved effort on last week.

Day 2

England were bowled out for 465, KP 73 and Prior 82.

At stumps NZ 66/3, 2 wickets for Stuart Broad.
