v Durham MCCU

Notts Record Win

On the third and final day, Notts swept the students away inside 55 overs, all out 121. Jake Ball 3/18 and of the 8 bowlers used only Paul Franks was wicket-less.

Good and Bad news for Derbyshire

Good news - Durham MCCU has replaced Derbyshire's 1904 Chesterfield 330 run defeat to Notts as Notts' biggest winning margin over - 541 runs is now their target to beat.

Second innings at Queen's Park, Derbyshire made 32, JR Gunn 6/19 TG Wass 3/13 highest scorer Bestwick last man out - run out 9

Bad news - Derbyshire lost by 9 wickets today against Middlesex at Lord's being bowled out for 60

Good news - Derbyshire only have a week to wait to reclaim that record

Steven Mullaney - specialist batsman?

Day 2 against the Durham MCCU saw the students dismissed for 142 this morning; Shahzad 3/21, Gurney 3/25 - Mullaney didn't bowl and Phillips and Ball both bowled 6 wicketless overs each.

Notts' second innings saw James Taylor fail again, scoring just 14. Chris Read, Taylor's fellow opener made 80, Steven Mullaney cashed in with 103 and The General 66.

Notts declared 408/9

At stumps Durham students were 4/0 off 1 Jake Ball over, "chasing" a target of 663

Samit gives students a Masterclass

Samit Patel gave the students of Durham MCCU and lesson in batting today at Trent Bridge, hitting 256, from opener, out of 396/3 declared. Michael Lumb made 83 and Steven Mullaney 28.

The students lost early wickets as Shahzad and then Gurney found edges, all caught behind - the first of Gurney's wickets being Chris Read's 400th dismissal at Trent Bridge (so the Girdler tells us).
