Keedy appointment

Nottinghamshire have appointed former Surrey, Lancashire and Yorkshire spinner Gary Keedy as Assistant Physiotherapist.
Keedy will be registered to play for Nottinghamshire although his primary purpose will be to provide physiotherapy for the Second Eleven and Academy teams.
He will also serve as spin-bowling coach as Director of Cricket Mick Newell looks to provide specialist support for Sam Wood, Adam Tilcock and Samit Patel.
"We're pleased to have agreed a deal with Gary who has a wealth of experience and is uniquely qualified to serve us at this stage of his career," said Newell.
"He was keen to take the next step towards a full-time career in physiotherapy but still feels that he can contribute to our coaching team and provide an option for those games away from Trent Bridge where we may opt to play two spinners."
Keedy has taken 678 wickets in 223 first class matches since making his debut in 1994. He began his career at Yorkshire but is best known for his achievements at Lancashire where he lifted the LV= County Championship trophy in 2011, as well as twice achieving promotion from Division Two.
“I have had a great year at Surrey and would like to thank everyone at the club for their warm welcome and fantastic support," said Keedy.
"However, the chance to develop my career in Physiotherapy at Nottinghamshire was too good an opportunity to turn down at this stage and I am looking forward to the new challenges ahead next year."

The future's bright............................................

....................... the future's Lumb

Michael Lumb has decided to concentrate his efforts for the next 3 seasons in pursuit of his Nottinghamshire and England careers rather than the lucrative IPL route.

Lumby was (in the opinion of this writer) Notts' classiest performer over all formats last season and has been ever since his arrival from Hampshire. Michael's presence boosts Alex Hales' T20 performances as well being a foil to the blades of the likes of James Taylor and Samit Patel in all facets of the game. Some good news!

Lumby is due to fly-out to summery climes shortly to play T20 for Sydney Sixes (or is it Sixers?) and England.

Farewell Jonno

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE coach Paul Johnson has left Trent Bridge after a long and distinguished career as a player and coach, following a restructuring of the coaching staff.
Johnson scored 20,256 first class runs and captained Notts between 1996 and 1998.
He became the youngest player to represent the club in a competitive match when he made his debut in the Sunday League in 1981.
"Paul has been a tremendous ambassador for Nottinghamshire both on and off the field and his achievements will be very fondly remembered," said Nottinghamshire Chairman Peter Wright.
"He can be extremely proud of what he has accomplished and we wish him every success in the future."
Johnson retired from playing in 2002 but continued to serve as a member of the coaching staff.
"I'm leaving Trent Bridge with great memories and it will always hold a special place in my heart," he said. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Committee, past and present, the members, as well as the coaching and office staff for their support and friendship over many years.
"I've played alongside, and coached, some of the greatest players ever to represent Nottinghamshire and I will always retain a great affinity for the team and for Trent Bridge."
