Lions maul their prey

A captain's innings of 103* from James Taylor saw Lions comfortably beat Sri Lanka A  by 7 wickets, Alex Hales made 24 and Ravi Bopara also knocked loudly on the selectors' doors with 106.

Lions bitten

Verses a more (Test) experienced New Zealand A, both Taylor and Hales scored 7 in a defeat for the Lions.

Lions roar

Alex Hales succeeded in what must have been his own personal minimum objective, playing for the Lions against Sri Lanka A at Taunton - in scoring 101 (105 balls), out during the second Powerplay as the Girdler put it "job done".

James Taylor managed a fairly quick 31 after a slow start and Harry Gurney took a couple of wickets. Lions won at a canter (if lions can canter) by 51 runs

Chris Read will Captain Notts Outlaws in James Taylor's absence (Lions Duty).

Harry Gurney, also given the Lions' call, will only play one game at Taunton and so is available for all Outlaws' games, subject to Notts' rotation policies.

In for the prolonged Lions absentees; Alex Hales and James Taylor, will be Sam Wood and an inform Sam Kelsall - this is opportunity knocking for these two, opportunities that they can finally make a real, career changing / kick-starting, impact in.

The weather forecast, even at this long range for the first two of the three fixtures is particularly dire for Friday and only marginally better for Sunday - there's the remnants of Hurricane Bertha coming.
Has anyone else noticed the raising of Brett Hutton's profile - mentions on Twitter by @TrentBridge and then in an interview by Luke Fletcher?
