In the early overs of #teamshane 's innings, after winning toss, procedings were dominated by boundaries off half-paced old quicks until form spinner Saeed Ajmal was employed by Sachin Tendulkar.
11.4 overs Chris Read stumps KP off Ajmal 68/4, Chris' second stumping off the bowler - sign this Saeed Ajmal Mick quick - ooh he's taken.
RoW were given a chance then, which smacked of Beer Match, Saeed Ajmal 4/9, was taken off with #teamshane on the rocks.
Yuvraj Singh came in at 68/5, then scored a fifty with Ajmal held back 142/5 at half way.
Ajmal ultimately returned when the batsmen were well established and ended with 4/45 although there were some missed chances off his bamboozling bowling.
Rest of the World achieved 293/7 Yuvraj Singh 132, Paul Collingwood 40 and Peter Siddle 33*.
Shane Warne has broken his hand and was unable to field/bowl/captain but had managed to tweet.
MCC started well, as did RotW, 72/0 from 11 overs
Apart from when Lara and Dravid fell in 2 balls, Aaron Finch 181* led MCC to a convincing 7 wicket win
********************************************************************************
At least Chris Read is playing for the Light side unlike Peter Siddle who has taken the darker path.
Also on the Darkside is former Outlaws Tamim Iqbal and Kevin *$<$* Pietersen, Ready joins a short time former colleague Daniel Vettori so there is some extended Notts interest in the match, celebrating 200 years of Lord's, the MCC being founded as early as 1787, their former home being White's Conduit Field in Islington.
Will be match be properly competitive or have the feeling of a "beer match"?
The rivalries were deep but they are also so very long has age mellowed the old combatants?
At the very least the game can serve as a light work out at 50 overs ahead of the Royal London Cup later on this month for Chris.
