Rest in Peace Clive

RIP Clive!

Sad news from South Africa with the news of the death of Clive Rice. Clive had been battling cancer for a number of years and had recently returned from India after another round of treatment there.

Clive Rice, along with manager Ken Taylor, turned the Nottinghamshire club around in the 70s and 80s from being also rans into winners and with Sir Richard Hadlee into Champions.

Rest in peace Clive Edward Butler Rice.

  1. "He was the best captain I played under and always led from the front. He inspired everyone around him to be better and was hard physically and even harder mentally. He treated young players and stars equally."

  2. An all time hero, Notts best ever captain , a great leader of men, a great cricketer, a great guy all round. So sad to hear the news from South Africa today, R.I.P. Clive Rice, so many great memories of a cricketer who gave everything.

  3. The idea of working with someone like Ricey, who was such a legend, was one of the big reasons why I wanted to come and play at Trent Bridge.

  4. To everyone who has sent their strength, love and prayers through, the family would like to thank you very much. It means a huge amount to us and all the support is just overwhelming.
We however would like to clear something up, and know that Clive would have wanted this said, as it gives, and should give people hope as well as another option to fighting cancer.
The CYBERKNIFE treatment that Clive had in India WORKED.
His Brain Tumor was given the all clear last week, however he was put on chemo to try and fight a spot on his lungs that had been there for a few months. On Monday he got septicemia and and coupled with a low immune system and low blood count, there was little chance of survival. He fought the whole of Monday night and passed away on Tuesday morning.
Please keep Cyberknife as an option, as it did work.
Once again, thanks to everyone for all the support.
