Leicestershire Foxes v Gloucestershire RLODC at Grace Road

NARROW WIN FOR GLOS

as the BBC saw it......

Gareth Roderick's first ton in limited-overs cricket helped Gloucestershire to a dramatic one-run victory over Leicestershire in the One-Day Cup.

The 23-year-old struck 104 and Geraint Jones added 87 from 61 balls as the visitors posted 315-6 at Grace Road.

Leicestershire wobbled in reply, slipping to 128-5 after 27.2 overs.

Aadil Ali hit 84 before Rob Taylor and Clint McKay shared 44 for the final wicket, but McKay was run out off the last ball to leave them 314 all out.

It had been a brilliant fightback by the Foxes, led by 20-year-old Ali's best score in only his seventh first-team match. 20 year old Michael Burgess, in only his second game, chipped in with 49.

Even when Rob Sayer was dismissed by David Payne it looked like the home team were going to fall comfortably short, but Taylor struck three sixes in his 23-ball 42 and McKay added 18, only for the latter to be run out by Michael Klinger attempting a second run off the final delivery.

It was the second nail-biting end to a One-Day Cup match in three days for Gloucestershire, after a no-ball from the last delivery helped them to beat Derbyshire by six wickets on Wednesday.
