New Coach appointed

05/01

After sending the press on a merry trail of speculation, South African Ant Botha has been appointed Second XI and Academy coach. Fresh blood with fresh ideas, hopefully.

03/01
With the New Year has come speculation that Notts are about to announce a new coach to manage the Second XI to replace Paul Franks. Last year, the General was promoted to chief cone distributor and collector after Wayne Noon went looking for cones of a different hew and so this important position does need filling before too long.

In the frame are: Karl Krikken, former Derbyshire Head Coach and wicketkeeper, Ben Brown , formerly at Leicestershire and Chris Adams who a couple of years ago performed a coaching efficiency audit at Notts, after which progression from the second eleven did improve, but obviously not enough to halt the slide into Division 2 last season.

None of the names appear to be a Newell man, so for better or worse, a new approach can be expected in 2017.

    1. Reading too much into this Paul. Comments are more to with the public's bewilderment as to what your predecessor actually did beyond his cone duties. We've all read the comments from Lumby and how Mr Wonderful helped him but daggers are still drawn after the 2016 failings.

    2. I'm well aware of what's needs to be done ,I'd like to think we can all (players, members) start on a positive note for 2017

    3. Absolutely Paul, there's nothing more than the club's success and welfare that the members care passionately about. Players come and players go but the members are there for the "whole innings" as it were. Fingers are crossed already that new coaching regime get it right from the word go and the players show their true class!

  2. With the PCA throwing its hat into the ring to support the Graves et al's proposed 8 City Franchise T20 competition, how committed to the Counties are the PCA members?
