Average? Hardly Division 1 figures though. He's fast but seems to lack variety - another Footitt?
ReplyDeleteLack of height will no doubt be a problem throughout his career, Its not insurmountable but at the very least he probably needs to develop other areas, swing being the obvious choice , Fact is LW is at best medium fast, Division 1 batsmen are in general not unduly troubled by bowlers at that pace unless they are doing something with the ball...
ReplyDeleteOn the plus side Wood could develop his already useful batting to stake a place in the team,Its something he nèeds to work on given that messers Couglin and Chappel are both noted for their batting ability...
Yes, he showed real potential when coming through the Academy and playing for Cuckney in the Notts Premier League but hasn't really improved up to the level where he looks ready to play Div One. Yes, Zanga, I agree he has a lovely, rhythmic run up to the crease and can bowl a quick ball, but, medium fast is where he currently sits to me, a few mph above BIG Fletch but will never be express. Perhaps he will have to develop his batting more to stay at the club? Has been unlucky with injuries as the next season balways seems to be the season where he establishes himself.Personally, never thougt offers much in white ball, which is ironic as he's a double T20medal winner
