Root is set to be the public face of the Trent Bridge franchise and was joined by "local icons" and white ball mercenaries Harry Gurney and Alex Hales to complete round one.
From the grid it is also clear now that Kolpak players will be able to be drafted ahead of local players, so if the price is right, we might see a few shenanigans with extra overseas players cashing in with The Hundred, which is good for the majority of cricket supporters up and down the country as that will leave more regular county players playing in the One Day Cup.
And owned by 'KP' - good to see our old friend 'resurrected' at Trent Bridge!!!

ReplyDeleteA junk Competition sponsored by junk food manufacturers - says it all!
ReplyDeleteAbout 12 to 15 years ago our then President, Brian Bolus, I think, said at the AGM "Despite wonderful Tests and other matches Trent Bridge is the home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club or it is nothing." I so agreed and agree with that. But read this week it is the home of this Franchise so called team. This really does hurt me to the core. I have never felt so let down by this or any other sport
ReplyDeleteTotally agree - but you only have to look at the 'power' and influence of Kevin Keegan when it comes to crisps - what hope have the rest of us got!!!??? They might even hand out free packets of Skips!Sadly, cricket is following in the well trodeen steps of Football - sponsorship to pay high wages.
ReplyDeleteYes, Sir Philip, Darren Gough on talksport radio yesterday was implying that the one notable absentee box offfice T20 exponent AB de VILLIERS would not commit to the four weeks of the tournament for the fee of £125,000 Assuming he's correct, is not that the indicator of where cricket is now at? But, I guess if you're used picking up the really big bucks in other tournaments you can start to pick and choose what franchises you play in ?
