As Mr Day has started the ball rolling, who do believe should or will feature in Notts first First XI of 2020?
Not always totally serious and by fans for the fans of Notts Outlaws and Nottinghamshire CCC. Why not contribute yourself; write a review, article, photographs, statistics or to have a whine. Contact methods are shown above. Publication does not necessarily mean agreement with comments, but if it makes just one person smile then it can't all be bad. No offence is ever intended, just a smile. Words are just opinions and not certified facts.

ReplyDeleteHameed,
Slater,
Clarke
Compton
Patel
Mull CPT
Trego
Moores wkt
Abbas
Fletch,
Ball (Broad if avsilable)
A former England opener (not Alex !) prove to us you have the work ethic, last year you were shocking.
Duckett in for Moores
DeleteNash in for Compton
LPW in for Patel
Then make a few changes - it's very difficult when your judgement is clouded by the form of those players in 2019
Got to give the remaining incumbents a chance to prove and redeem themselves

Slater
Nash
Clarke
Duckett
Moores WK
Patel
Patterson-White

Ball
Looks a good team on paper, esp in div 2. But complete the following...."we all know it's .............."
DeleteA fair few wides in those stats but he is young enough to develop - don't want wides and nb in the white ball though. Trying to predict the first team of the season for RL50 is hard - and I don't think we know the 50 overs overseas player yet, but based on what we have so far I would say maybe
ReplyDelete1. Slater
2. Nash - capt
3. Trego
4. Patel
5. Evison
6. Budinger - wk
7. James
8. Patterson-White
9. Chappell
10. Blatherwick
11. Barber
Other options - Compton, Hameed - both mainly 4 days. No-one else I am aware of except whoever we have as overseas and maybe 2nd Eleven players - such as Kashif Ali or Chris Gibson. If Patel is called up for 100, we'd maybe need Kashif or Gibson - unless want to go one fewer all-rounder and add Hameed. Although I am a country member, I want to try to attend all 4 home RL50 games this year. I usually do something like 3 CC games for 3 days each, 3 RL50, and 4 T20. A bit more if I can - plus usually an ODI - and will be at RL50 final.
That's a joke surely.
DeleteClearly a joke, Trego is the obvious 4 with James opening with Slater LOL
Delete1st cc match hammed Slater Nash Clarke duckett mull Moore's trego fletch Abbas ball
ReplyDeleteWessels; Luke Wood; Sam Wood; Coughlin; Libby; Milns; Kitt; Brendan Taylor; Hutton; Graham Whit e& Billy Root.
ReplyDeleteAt first Phil I thought that wasn't much of a balanced side but when you assemble somekind of order to it, I think it works quite well and would certainly beat last year's side (if it played like it did last year). Shows the all round short-sightedness of Mick N.

Newel, Moores, Botha, Pick, Price, Trantor, Manek, Wood, Franks, Shine, Pipe. Not entirely sure of the batting order however.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Pursehouse, Chairman Richard and some Committee die-hards (you wouldn't get any of them out!!!).
DeleteNot until they declare on 70 anyway...
DeleteContinuing the 'Eleven' theme, this is my combined team of perennial sick noters, disaster signings and in general signings that it's fair to say never set the world alight. Will Jefferson, Neil Edwards, Ed Cowan, Greg Smith, Fraine, Coughlin, Ben Phillips, Jackson Bird, Andy Carter, Jason Brown, Mark Footitt
ReplyDeleteSome names there. A few I can think of.will gidman.anurag Singh.jason brown.jeffers (can't even remember his first name)Karl turner.
ReplyDeleteFRBB, Anurag Singh, that's a blast from the past, I'd completely forgotten about him and also the biggest flop of all Will Gidman, who our beloved DoC signed to replace that dreaded Kolpak Andre Adams who carried the bowling attack so brilliantly for us. Suppose, in fairness, someone ought to do an eleven of signings that Myopic Mick signed that were good for us as he did sign some top class class lads to compensate for all those duffers.
ReplyDeleteYes,Newell did make some very good signings.mark ealham ,Michael Lumb,Ryan sidebottom,Graeme swan.to be fair too him,if anyone didn't work out he let them go equally as quickly .a lot of the current crop haven't so far worked though.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting Jefferson and Simon Francis mixed up.(francis Jeffers was a footballer). Anurag Singh ,think he won the county championship with us.he wasn't around too long.i will have to look up his record.i suppose what you are getting with these imports are "ready made" players that have been at championship level for a good few years and will just slot in and do a job of sorts without setting the world on fire.some click, some don't .
ReplyDeleteThanks for responses, please keep them coming if thoughts on team selection. We get an early chance to see our guys play, Friendly arranged with our quite near neighbours Northants 3 days from Tuesday 31 March to Thursday 2 April, at Trent Bridge, start each day 11 am. Hope weather is kind, but please still wrap up warm and have plenty of hot coffee, tea etc
