Backroom Drain at Trent Bridge?

In the run-up to the 2022 season, Notts appear to be losing some backroom staff.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Player Pathway coach, Anton Roux, had joined the staff for the Sri Lankan National team, as fielding coach, clearly a career advancement and good luck to him.

In February, national newspapers published that Kunwar Bansil, sacked from Yorkshire (one of the 16), was the first of those Yorkshire former employees to gain alternative employment - when Notts employed him as "physio".

If you look at Kunwar Bansil's LinkedIn account, it states that he has been employed by Nottinghamshire CCC since January 2022., in the role of "Head of Science and Medicine".

25th January 2022 the Nottinghamshire Head of Science and Medicine spoke to NCLS members - James Pipe was his name!

What has happened to James Pipe? Notts haven't made any announcement about Pipe's departure nor KB's arrival (that I can recall or find on the Trent Bridge maze of a website).

James Pipe viewed from the stands, appeared to be very good at his job and highly professional - I personally observed him at Northampton tending to a spectator, at close quarters, who had had the misfortune to have been hit in the face by the ball  - I'm first aid trained and his work impressed me. His care and attention to concussion casualties on the field of play have been exemplary both before and after the introduction of protocols. He's very good at his job, so what has happened and why all the secrecy?

August will also see and exodus of various backroom people as they join the gravy train, otherwise known as Tom Harrison's Hundred.

Do we really want to see staff leaving at the start of a new season?

Like you, I'm sorry to see James go. A terrific man as well brilliant at his job. Was there even an advert put out for this job? Or are we back to 'who you know' principle. Last thing we want is people previously associated with the running of THAT club.

  2. You can’t have two jobs ( unless you’re an MP) difference of opinion in working for the club and the IPL at the same time is the word I.heard .

  3. Looks like he has been recruited by Andy Flower to be team physio for Lucknow Super Giants as announced on their Twitter Feed on 9th March. No doubt impressed Mr Flower whilst working with the Trent Rockets last year. A big loss to the club.

    1. He'll probably assume a similar role again for the Trent August Cuckoos in 2022.
