It's agreat pity that the BBC chose to lead with this article as their top story on County Cricket, through the entire last day of the round of championship matches on Sunday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/61054505
ReplyDeleteHistoric, second-hand report, unbalanced, out of context happening or not happening in India during the IPL and not even involving an English former player.
There were some great last days to talk up County Cricket but the BBC chose to lead with negativity - shame on you!
The BBC clearly have a distorted view of cricket when the commentary on 5 live sports extra is the IPL and not the CC, choosing Indian domestic cricket ahead of English cricket. Interestingly the viewing figures are shown on the live page of the website, the CC had nearly 8000 and the IPL less than 400 when I looked. The CC commentaries are an excellent service but why the BBC cover the likes of the IPL and Big Bash when the first B stands for British is beyond me, I thought they were short of money. There is excellent coverage of foreign domestic leagues by commercial media and broadcasters so why use licence fee money?
ReplyDeleteYes, agree. Pls don’t say its just another step in the awful direction of where the game seems to be heading…..Er, no - hurtling
