Leicestershire Plumbing the Depths

In a week of records, Glamorgan managed to beat Leicestershire by an innings and 28 runs. Leicestershire who showed little "steel" on the last day, in spite of their first innings score of 584. Sam Northeast ended his our personal innings when the declaration came on 410, a top ten all time high (9th I believe), and was enough to demoralise the hosts.

scorecard

Leicestershire's "achievement", as you see is not a record but is still quite remarkable, Notts managed to score 527 at Northampton in 1995 in their first innings, and lose by an innings, as you can see in the list.

  1. A friend went to the whole match, and he says huge credit to Glamorgan. I am jealous, I have never seen a 300 and he has watched a 400.

Leics have scored 450 + in the first innings of the last 3 matches.
But do not seem able to bowl sides out.
But this is a strange game, and they may yet get a victory in one of their remaining matches, this season ?!

  2. Seems apt for the foxes this season with their awful results and performances. Still quite an effort though to lose by an innings when you have posted 584 batting first. They’ve got a fairly new CEO, Sean Jarvis, who came from Huddersfield Town F.C who appears to want to try to move the club forward with new initiatives and is very keen for good results on the pitch to match these ideas so i wonder if ‘Nico’ is now under a bit of pressure with this latest disaster red ball performance? I wonder if Sam North-by-Northeast was ‘gutted’ when they declared not probably thinking for one minute a result could be forced in the game ?
I remember seeing B.C. Lara’s 501n.o for Warwickshire in 1995 on teletext and being stunned. Also remember Graeme Hick’s 405 n.o for Worcestershire back in 1988 and also recall Neil Fairbrother’s 366.
The foxes website can mirror our own Notts Pravda on occasions so i wonder whether this final day will be somehow just mystically evaporated and completely overlooked by their media team in true Notts Pravda fashion ?

  3. When they shook hands at Derby I switched to grace road on the stream knowing they started a day behind. Saw northeast get his 300 and to within 2 of the glammy record,so turned in and watched all of the next day. That’s why we like county cricket even if it’s not our team playing. Foxy
