Pattinson Not Returning to Notts?

An anonymous commenter has posted this on another post:
Spoke to Mick Newell at Welbeck who confirmed Patto is not returning and there will be news in a few days….,

Welbeck was four days ago...

James Pattinson has been absent since the beginning of the One Day Cup. After the birth of his child, James had a period of paternity leave and did return to playing following that.

Austrailian state pre-season training camps are now opening-up... Aussies often get called home early for such!

Trent Bridge is void of anything useful regards news on this or anything else.

Jake Ball has bowled 136 deliveries for the Welsh franchise. For the Notts first eleven Jake has bowled just eight more than that in 2022. Could Jake replace Patto or is he unofficially on a T20 only contract?

  1. If Jamie has left, that is sad and frustrating.
But will always remember the great cricket he has played for us

  2. Budinger also leaving for Leics apparently

    1. With the T20 squad in need of a major overhaul, Budinger would have been the obvious one to come in to give a bit more oomph. If this is true, Peter Moores has obviously still got his head in the sand and Mick Newell's head is still right up his own sense of self importance.

  3. Can only see The ‘Lord’ having a limited future in white ball cricket, really not sure he is good enough for Notts having seen a lot of him since he emerged, but it would be VERY disappointing to lose yet another young player, who will only get better you would think over the next 2/3 years.
I can confirm 100% that is what Mick Newell told me at Welbeck when i asked what was the news with Patto ? I also wonder, in true Trent Bridge style, whether they are lining up a short-term replacement for him for the final 3 games and if so, this news will nicely soften the disappointing news that Patto has departed mid-season. This disappointing news, shortly after the Joey Evison saga and subsequent departure would just be too much for Notts Pravda to handle, especially with a potentially unhappy mob ready for the Members Forumn.
Whilst having little interest, i have also noticed Jake Ball’s miraculous availability for the Welsh Fire but bowling 20 balls is a completely different ask to him getting through 17/18 overs a day in four day cricket. If he was certain to achieve this, then no need to replace Patto and there’s also the unlucky Brett Hutton who deserves a proper run in the team now. I’m just extremely cynical of the way TB plan and announce news and they always try to throw in a nice little ‘sweetener’ for the Members when the flak may be coming their way.
Also, has anyone noticed the awful run of scores Joe Clarke has for the non-Welsh Fire ? A whopping 87 runs from his 7 inning’s which means hes been in even worse form than he was for us in the T20Blast campaign which is an achievement in itself ?

  4. Any flack they get , particularly the administrators, won’t be enough in my book. Many of the ceo s including our own have blatantly disregarded what the majority ( I believe) of the members want. Foxy.
