Action Required Today's Members' Forum at Trent Bridge All Members

Jeff Moore pledges that he will not vote for a reduction from 14 Championship games in any ECB vote.

Do we believe him?

I would like to trust him...

but his pal voted for The Hundred, and look what a mess that has got us into.

Peter Moores states that every player in the Notts squad is treated equally and everyone has an equal opportunity of playing matches.

That statement is clearly not entirely true.

Jeff Moore spoke of the petition (below) and those members that signed it with disdain and was disrespectful at the onset (to most members in the packed Randall Suite), he later went on to refuse democracy (a binding vote on these matters by the membership - the owners of th club) as he has been elected and has the authority - basically the committee know best.

Moore had got a rough ride and became a tad mardy but he and Pursehouse had managed to run down the clock, wasting much of the lunch break on a presentation that most had already read online before many left to watch the cricket. The meeting however went on for another hour or so.

Moore will stand down as chairman in February (he said that he'd made that clear all along).

So he definitely wasn't having a mardy tantrum...

Notts Members Forum 5th September

I wanted to update you on the campaign activity ahead of the members' forum on Monday lunchtime.

If you can't go to the forum, then you can register to attend via Zoom using this link https://www.trentbridge.co.uk/news/2022/august/members-forum-register-to-attend-via-zoom.html?

Recent CEO meeting
It was a constructive meeting and the club officials understood the strong sentiment of the members.  Ultimately, how the club votes is a matter for the club's General Committee (GC). It is up to the GC to decide how much or how little weight to give any member vote on any reforms coming out of the ECB review process.  The GC do not want to give any general commitment to hold a member vote until such time as they have seen the actual proposals.

EGM motion
Around 450 members signed a motion to call an Extraordinary General Meeting of the club to review how the club handled these reforms and how they voted. The motion is to be submitted to the club's management in the event that they do not allow members a binding vote on any significant ECB reforms that impact the amount of county championship cricket played.

The wording of the EGM motion is reproduced at the end of this update in case you have not seen it already.

Decision to be taken after Members forum
Please do go to the members' forum so that you can hear the latest from the club's management.  The campaign team will be asking the club's management whether they wish to give members a binding vote or hold the EGM afterwards.

Please encourage friends to sign up
It is quite likely that major changes could be deferred into the winter.  We want to be able to keep in touch with as many members as possible.

Please will you spread the word when you are next at a match and ask any member you know if they have subscribed to these updates.  They can do so simply by completing the short form here https://www.countycricketmatters.com/post/campaign-to-save-first-class-cricket

We have over 450 member signatures but we only have 287 valid member emails so it is vital to collect more during the last few matches of the season.

Best wishes

Alan

EGM motion

We the undersigned members of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club (the club) require an Extraordinary General Meeting to take place at Trent Bridge at a convenient date and time set by the General Committee to maximize attendance of the club’s members.  The agenda is set out below:

“1. To consider all aspects of the club’s officials handling of any discussions held amongst any of the counties and/or the ECB relating to any matter connected to the High Performance Review especially any implications to alter the future schedule or structure of county cricket.

2. To discuss the communications to members and the level of involvement of members ahead of the club casting its vote on the future structure/schedule.

3. To discuss in detail the views of club officials on the merits of the various options considered and receive a detailed explanation of why they voted as they did.

The following resolutions will be considered by the meeting:

A “The members have confidence in how the club officials managed the process, communications and member involvement.”

B “The members have confidence in the actual vote cast by the club’s chair on behalf of the members

  1. The members appear to be either an inconvenience or an annoyance to the club hierachy. The club has lost its affinity with its members and is out of touch being wrapped-up in Hundred synthetic glory.

  2. Just on the money side of the Hundred. It was said several times that every county gets £1:3 million. But not every county has lost its ground for a month so what extra is given to NCCC for this. It was hinted that we receive part of the merchandising etc. But how much does this equate to over the competition. Surly drinks food and ground rent is included.
It must be a good compensation package to play three games at out grounds with all the cost that entails. Not a very good meeting with a chair who has a very thin skin. Who can’t see that the membership want to support him in not loosing county games. That he can go to the ECB and say Iam against any reduction and so are my members. But to say the membership has no respect for him and should know he only wants the best for NCCC, sounds very egotistical. Mr chairman if we are all agreed that there should be no cutting of games then the what is the issue with a vote it only strengthens your position. Time to put egos aside and let’s protect our game.

  3. I’m glad if they were given a hard time and felt hot under the collar, they deserve it for their attitude over many years.
I stopped going to the members forums long ago( I’m not a member anymore anyway) but the arrogance of the top table was sickening . Belittling the older members, lying, “ I d like to take a championship game to lady bay “ , ( without saying why)hiding the truth( one meeting Peter Moores joined the club within hours and not a word was mentioned to the group.)
Purse house needs bringing down a peg or two ( sacking ideally )
I can actually live with the signing and releasing of players, selection, it makes a good talking point on here , might not agree with it but ultimately it’s down to the professional judgment of the coaching staff, but the duplicitous behaviour of some I can’t abide. Foxy
