  1. He’s getting a plethora of stick on Twitter, or even X now, regarding the obvious situation in his past-from other County supporters I must add with this new appointment
But c’mon everybody’s made stupid mistakes in the past and as far as I’m concerned he wasn’t actually guilty of anything at all in the eyes of the law
I do wonder, however, in today’s society whether this baggage is still nailing his chances of some sort of international recognition?
Selfishly, that could be good news 🗞 for Notts as we could ill afford to be without him and Ducky for periods of time in the season

  2. 80 NOT OUT
JOE is now older and wiser and deserves his chance to Captain the T 20 side .
    Alex Hales is the past
    Joe is the future
    Time waits for no man

    1. He's older, as are we all. But, is he wiser, he's certainly had experience of the T20 world circus and has seen and been part of umpteen match scenarios which he may have learnt from. So does this make him captain material? For me the jury is still out. Will be be forceful enough to scrug off the (over) cautious Peter's guidance?

    Ref above posting .
    Time will tell .
After what Joe has been through - some self inflicted damage it has to be said- he must now be more level headed and able to take the right decisions on and off the field . The Blast 20 side could certainly use a more adventurous style of play .
If Hales doesnt play for us next year then who is his replacement?

    1. The list of runners and riders for Outlaws T20 Captain were pretty short. My favourite was Overseas Player #1 with second favourite being Overseas Player #2 and my third favourite was Alex Hales. The silence over Hales contract (and his future status with Notts) is quite strange. Does Clarke's appointment mean Hales has already played his last game for Notts Outlaws? However, the club did manage to negotiate a new contract with Joe Clarke last season (2022), without making any announcement to press or public - was the captaincy role a sweetener thrown in back then, to take effect once Mullaney had stood down? Perhaps Hales has had a similarly new undisclosed contract as well, with his own sweeteners chucked in; perhaps he's copped the captaincy of the Tront Reckets...

    2. A despicable human being, wouldn't want him in same county as my daughter, never mind cricket ground. As others have said elsewhere, scratch any pretence of being a family club now Nottinghamshire.

    3. People make mistakes in life - who hasn’t - is it not about learning from them and moving forward and trying to become a better person ?
If they’re unwilling to learn and change, then I agree, but everyone deserves a second chance
As far as I am aware, he wasn’t actually found guilty of anything in the eyes of the law, so not so sure he should be condemned for ever - but it’s all opinions at the end of the day and everyone’s entitled to theirs in this country - at least for now anyway)

It may help if cautious Pete insisted on Hales playing all available warm up games ahead of the Blast 💥 tournament
It cannot help him coming back ‘cold’ even if it’s a 2s game it’s still willow on (white) ball game time out in the middle and even the greatest players still need that
