Kevin Pietersen to Retire from Test Cricket?

Who is he kidding?

What is Kevin Pietersen if he isn't a Test Cricketer?

Will he be able to massage his own ego enough travelling the World's T20 tournaments as a Gun for Hire; undoubtedly he'd be wealthier but will his profile suffer?

As all Notts fans know, the guy is a very talented cricketer (to say the least) but he is also a complete d*ck in an equal measure!

1499 Tons

Roger Marshall, first team scorer 2012, has alerted us all via DC's column on the Notts website that Nottinghamshire batsmen have currently scored 1499 centuries in first class cricket.

Who will score the 1500th ton for Notts?

Might it be James Taylor, who should be available for county action after limited activity at the test.

According the George Dobell, Bears will have Bell and Trott available too...........................

Notts have announced an extended squad for the Taunton jaunt:
Alex Hales, Riki Wessels, Michael Lumb, James Taylor, Adam Voges, Chris Read (C), Paul Franks, Steven Mullaney, Graeme Swann, Graeme White, Andre Adams, Ben Phillips, Andy Carter, Harry Gurney

and will decide on Tuesday morning what eleven to start the game, once the wicket has been scrutinised - there is every possibility it might be set-up for Somerset's latest import, Abdur Rehman.

v Glamorgan CB40 2012

Dai Llewellyn sets Outlaws too stiff a target

After a somewhat lackadaisical display Notts slipped to a narrow two-run defeat under the Vera Duckworth method at Swansea yesterday.
Elstone and Carter came in for Ball and Gurney on a spinner’s wicket which had been used for the previous four day game against Gloucestershire.
Fletcher still sadly completely out of shape was a poor selection and he bowled a very mixed fare opening up from the Mumbles End; Patel meanwhile continued his mediocre bowling efforts from last Wednesday. The end result was that Glamorgan raced off at six an over from the first six overs on a wicket where 180 looked a winning total.

Redfern rescues Sheep after Shreck attacks.

Tony Palladino's 7/53 set up a challenging run chase over the last day and a half for Derbyshire at Derby against Kent.

After rain disrupted proceedings on Saturday, Derbyshire looked well set on 197/2 on Sunday needing 295 but then the Cornish Giant, Charlie Shreck struck taking four wickets.

Dan Redfern then steadied the ship and is currently guiding the Sheep to an important win against one of their nearest rivals for the Division 2 title, 286/8 at lunch. After lunch, Sheep won by the 2 wicket margin.

England's Innings in the test fizzled out after KP was out LBW to the second ball of the day, 425 all out.

Elstone in the 13 and Glam beat Glos

Notts (from): Lumb, Hales, Wessels, Patel, Voges, Read, Mullaney, White, Ball, Fletcher, Gurney, Elstone, Carter.

It is also hoped that Graeme Swann might be available for the trip to Taunton on Tuesday.

Confirmed on the Trent Bridge Twitter feed.

Graeme Swann will be included in the Nottinghamshire team to face Somerset in the LV= County Championship.

Barrels of fun for Durham

Division One strugglers Durham pulled-off a surprise win over Australia A who managed a Durham-style collapse of their own; crashing from 99/0 to 123/5 and then 160/5 to 188/9, eventually ending 204 all out. Ian Blackwell, the rotund Spirite took a career best 7/52. Durham won by 19 runs.

At Derby, Charlie Shreck snared a five-fer 5/41 for Kent, grabbing wickets in clutches as he did at Trent Bridge, he took the top 3 and then the bottom two batsmen.

Somerset need 279 to beat Lancashire at Liverpool, 14/1.

Middlesex currently have a lead of 177 with 7 wickets in hand against Bears at Uxbridge.

Pears turned-over and had their tummies rubbed like obedient pet Labradors at Hove - losing by an innings and 117 runs. Monty Panesar 23-13-23-4

David Masters is enjoying bowling against his old team, Leicestershire, 6/47 at Chelmsford.

At the test, rain ended play early, the Boks 419 Stuart Broad 3/96 England 48/0.

Thursday 2 August 2012

Taylor in, Swann out

Graeme Swann has been excluded for the first time in 43 tests; either because of his troubled elbow or because of the need for speed in Steven Finn.

James Taylor has been included in the eleven to maintain the Notts ratio however.

put those programmes in the bin!

Good of them to let debutant take part in the toss...

More Wednesday night woes!

NOTTS ALL IN A SPIN
Notts were defeated by Surrey by four wickets with 23 balls unused on a slow-turning pitch at TB last night.
With Carter rested, Fletcher clearly some way short of match fitness seemed a strange choice over Scott Elstone and Jake Ball never bowled a ball all night.

Tuesday 31 July 2012

Fletcher to Return?

CB40 regular
After 3 games for the Seconds, Luke Fletcher is being penciled in to play against Surrey Lions tomorrow.
Outlaws: Michael Lumb, Alex Hales, Riki Wessels, Adam Voges, Samit Patel, Chris Read ©, Steven Mullaney, Graeme White, Jake Ball, Harry Gurney, Andy Carter, Luke Fletcher

In the corresponding reverse fixture between the two sides; Outlaws won easily, Darren Pattinson doing critical damage with the ball and James Taylor hitting the winning runs off - neither of these two play tomorrow.

Date-Health Warning

For those people that work weekends, please note one day this coming weekend hasn't been given a date in Derby. Extra care should be taken on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,

Why Derbyshire are playing Kent over 5 days is a mystery.
