v Durham Dynamos FLT20 at Chester le Street

Another superb innings by Michael Lumb ensured Notts cantered to the easiest of victories at sun baked Chester-le-Street yesterday.

v Derbyshire Falcons FLT20 at County Ground, Derby

Derbyshire slaughtered

A sell out crowd of 4,999 witnessed Derbyshire get thumped by a superior Notts by six wickets with 15 balls unused. The home team supporters suffering from delusions of grandeur following Derby’s 100% record in the first three games were treated to one-sided bore on a wicket which was not suited to Twenty/20 cricket, a typical Racecourse slow and low wicket. All but four overs of the Notts innings were bowled by spinners and home captain Madsen missed a trick by not bowling Chesney Hughes!  Entertaining it certainly wasn’t as Notts scampered their way to victory after man of the match Lumb’s initial opening burst; his 49 off 41 balls was a classy effort.

v Lancashire Lightning FLT20 at Old Trafford

Hussey blasts Outlaws to victory and ends Old Trafford hoodoo

A fourth wicket partnership of 78 in 51 balls between Alex Hales (49) and David Hussey (52) gave Notts their first ever Twenty/20 win at Old Trafford. Having had only two limited overs victories in 50 years of limited overs cricket, the monkey has finally been removed from Notts back. Those with extremely long memories will remember the nine wicket victory inspired by Chris Broad and Derek Randall in the first game of the 1991 Sunday League championship winning season, where Wasim Akram appeared to wearing numerous pullovers on a bitterly cold April afternoon. Two years earlier on a sunny September Wednesday afternoon Andy Pick bowled Notts to victory in the long forgotten Refuge Assurance Cup.
