White limited overs cricket at Trent Bridge!

SECONDS SEE OFF WELSH TO REACH TROPHY FINAL

Nottinghamshire 2nd XI defeated Glamorgan 2nd XI by 36 runs at Trent Bridge to reach the final of the Second Eleven Trophy.
Chasing 217 to win, the Welsh county lost Dan Roberts, Mike O’Shea and Mike Powell as they slipped to 62/3 after 15 overs. But David Brown (74) and Ben Wright (56) then re-ignited the chase to see Glamorgan to 167/5 from 34 overs. But a collapse then occurred as Glamorgan were dismissed for 180 in the 37th over.

Earlier, the Welsh county had made a good start with John Glover bowling Karl Turner in the third over before Stuart Kelsall and Neil Edwards began a recovery mission. Spinners Mike O’Shea and Andrew Salter then applied a brake, before a fine closing spell from Glover and Alex Jones with Nottinghamshire only able to scramble two dozen runs in the last six overs with Scott Elstone unbeaten on 83* as the home side ended on 216/7.

Nottinghamshire will now meet Lancashire 2nd XI in the final on September 12th, after the Red Rose county defeated Somerset 2nd XI at Taunton Vale CC yesterday.
