Too much cricket?

With Graeme Swann wishing there to be less International cricket and suggesting scrapping ODIs, Jimmy Anderon bemoaning the International workload, David Morgan recommending swinging the axe to the English Domestic structure and fixtures; Nottsview asks is there too much cricket?

The rewards for International Stars has never been greater, funded by TV executives with numerous Sports dedicated channels to fill, twelve months every year, worldwide.

In England full houses for Tests, ODIs and T20s involving England and almost any of the major powers in World cricket, backed by BSkyB means an ever increasing demand for product.

Domestically (in England) the popularity of T20 has meant that other competitions have been squeezed for time, the season starts earlier and ends later than it did 20/30 years ago; the structure for the viewing public is disjointed and confusing with no uniformity of starting days etc - a major remit for Morgan's review.

Players constantly refer to the frantic fixture schedules but what do they do one their odd weekend off? Play for their club team!

Perhaps there is enough cricket (domestically) but not enough time to play it in the brief summer months in England.

Notts have announced recently that they are off to Barbados in the spring for some pre-season warm-up games, effectively extending their season a bit more.
