Durham CCC 20 Today

Happy Twentieth Birthday to Durham CCC's First Class status, today; 20 years ago the promoted Minor County started the latest chapter of their history at the Parks, Oxford. They said at the time, a northerly outpost like Durham was no place for cricket in April, but they have persisted; England is no place for cricket in April but nevertheless they keep bringing the season forward in the calendar each year!

20 years on at Chester le Street, wet conditions delayed the start of play again but when play got going, Michael Lumb continued where he left off last night - after 14 overs, lunch was taken. Notts 282/4.

With a busy day for Liverpool, Lancashire were still clinging-on at lunch, with 2 wickets left, they still trail Sussex by 11 runs. This match could be all over in time for the event at Aintree and the football at Wembley later.

Lunch at Lord's was taken when Middlesex had a second innings lead of 63 for the loss of 1 wicket.

Jos Buttler (66*) and Nick Compton (111*) survived the morning at Birmingham. Somerset lead by 154.

Meanwhile at Northampton the hosts, with a mountain to climb, failed to make base-camp. Northampton all out in the second innings for 116. Kent won by an innings and 120 runs. Matt Coles 6/51.

Glamorgan lunched at 49/0, chasing a target of 233 set by Derbyshire.

No play was possible at Southampton.
