Déjà Don't - Swann changes the script!

It had looked like a case of déjà vu as England took early wickets, only to be held up by Mahala Jayawardene with a century on day one, but Graeme Swann changed the script from that of the First Test - Sri Lanka closing on 275 on the second day. In a game that England must win to retain their tattered Number One status, a solid opening from Strauss and Cook is a given!

Second Test in Columbo

Sri Lanka First Innings 275

Mahala Jayawardene 105
Angelo Mathews 57
Thilan Samaraweera 54

Graeme Swann 4/75
James Anderson 3/62

In reply England had a better part to play in this new rewritten screenplay, Cook and Strauss knew their lines well.

England First Innings 154/1 (at stumps)

Alastair Cook 71 not out
Andrew Srauss 61
Jonathan Trott 15 not out
