Taylor scores maiden Notts fifty

For the two sessions, that was the Loughborough students' innings, the gulf in class combined with some negative bowling did very little to distract the hardy spectators on a cool and grey day at Trent Bridge.

For the main part of the LMCCU innings Notts' bowling was generally wide of off stump or dragged down leg; either way because of the difference in quality between the two sides, scoring was for the most part a little over 2 runs per over. Wickets fell at regular intervals with only Nitesh Patel sticking in whilst scoring for his107 balls, scoring 46. Captain Adam Riley lasted 90 balls but his scoring rate was torturous at times; 5 runs for the 60 minutes after lunch is one period engraved on the memory.

Positives for Notts; Fletcher bowled well at times, at one point being on a hat-trick, whilst Carter and Phillips bowled with some pace but just needed to fine tune their radars. Graeme White demonstrated that he could hold up one end successfully, his figures today 12.3-8-9-2.

Notts in their second innings again set off like a bull in a china shop.

LMCCU First Innings 148

Nitesh Patel 46
Fred Daeche-Marshall 32
Adam Soilleux 22

Luke Fletcher 4/21

Nottinghamshire 2nd Innings 183/2 (34 overs at Stumps)

James Taylor 61 not out
Alex Hales 48
Michael Lumb 44
