Lancashire finished off with ruthless efficiency!

Notts took two hours and ten minutes to wrap up a comprehensive victory at sunny Manchester today.

Procter and Cross were relatively untroubled in the first 40 minutes of the morning session but with the score on 70, Cross was leg before to Adams who claimed his tenth wicket of the match. Smith came in with a runner and received two bouncers straight up from Adams to test his limited footwork. The Liverpudlian gritted it out for 10 overs before gloving a lifting ball from Broad to Adams at third slip.

Chapple went for the long handled approach and hit Swann for six but later danced down the pitch to Swann  but he only succeeded in yorking himself as he departed bowled for 26, 127 for eight.

Broad pitched too short too often and was replaced at the Pavilion End by Samit Patel who had his first bowl of the innings. In his first over, Anderson bagged a pair after edging to Hales at first slip. Lunch was delayed under the new 2012 regulations and in his fourth over, Patel had Kerrigan drove the ball straight to Broad at mid on who took the catch low down. Lancashire 142 all out and defeated by a massive margin of 185 runs. Luke Procter batted sensibly and resolutely to finish on unbeaten 41 off 114 balls. Adams was undoubted star once again with astonishing match figures of 30-13-50-10. Notts batsman also showed greater application on the very low wicket which had uneven bounce. Lumb, Taylor and Read’s innings were all of nudging and nurdling variety but that was the best approach to batting on the tricky surface.

Notts lie second in the table behind pacesetters Warwickshire.
