Sam Wood century

Barnt Green saw a Sam Wood 141 yesterday for the Second XI.


Pleased  got on the Barnt Green honours board with his 141 today. Couldn't find the board though so chiseled it on the bog door. - tweeted by Andy Carter

Day 1
There was no play before lunch at Barnt Green C.C. where Warwickshire began their defence of the Second Eleven Championship title, won at the end of last season, with a match against Nottinghamshire.
Play finally got underway at 2.30 p.m. and after winning the toss, Nottinghamshire put Warwickshire into bat and quickly reduced the home side to 35-3 before Richard Johnson 61 from 77 deliveriies and Ateeq Javid 35 helped them close the opening day on 212-8 from seventy five overs.
Day 2
Warwickshire resumed on the second morning with two wickets intact in their first innings and Tom Allin 43* sharing in a last wicket partnership of sixty five with Andrew Miller, helped his side to a final total of 277.
Nottinghamshire in reply put on 224 for the first wicket, before an astonishing spell of six wickets for nineteen runs in four overs, from Andrew Miller, pegged the visitors back bringing a declaration just before stumps on 300-7 and a first innings lead of twenty three.
There was just time fior three overs before the close, and Jonathan Webb, absent on the final day due to examination committments, took full advantage, after the first two overs were maidens, hitting twenty two from the final over, with a further four byes from the last ball of the day, to leave Warwickshire 26-0 at the close and holding a lead of three runs albeit, without Webb, going in to the final day.
Day 3
Warwickshire batted for much of the final day against Nottinghamshire, with Laurie Evans 58, Steff Piolet 58* and Tom Milnes 42 top scoring in a total of 251-6 dec leaving the visitors seventeen overs at the end of the day. At the close Nottinghamshire were forty six without loss.
Warwickshire took 9 points and Nottinghamshire 11 points from the draw

Graeme White took three second innings wickets as Nottinghamshire's Second Eleven took 11 points from their Championship draw against Warwickshire at Barnt Green.
Karl Turner (18) and Sam Wood (24) were unbeaten at the crease when the captains shook hands.
Wood was the star turn for Notts having scored 141 first innings runs.
